2025 💛🌿 My first full calendar year of living on the central coast (what is to me, the most beautiful place on Earth). My dreams of a life filled with saltwater and soil, bookshelves and maps, wildflowers and strawberries, music and tall grasses, snuggly animals and barefoot kiddos, mountain air and freshwater swims, and a blanket of boundless love atop it all has become tangible.

We spent the final few days of this special year far from home, in the remotest place on Earth, feeling incredibly lucky and grateful for it all. Some recaps of 2025 and our epic beginning of 2026 are on the way to the instasphere soon…all for now 🕊️

It’s only the tenth day of the ninth month of the year, and already September has brought more & better dives than the rest of the 2025 combined ✨ I love the kelp forest for its colors, but I also love what I notice differently in it when shifting to shoot in B&W. 🤍🎞️ Shooting s’more 35mm film than usual lately. While my (beloooved) digital camera releases me from the bounds of a finite roll of film, the constraints of being tethered to only 36 or so shots is somehow freeing in its intentionality. It forces me to observe more patiently rather than capture endless frames.

Here are a handful of recent simple joys that made me do just that 🤎 Memories that already feel like highlights of life. Scenes from our wonderful home in a verdant valley. Pollinators and amphibians and the love of my life in the garden. People that I adore absorbing the mountain air while backpacking the High Sierra.

Even in the midst of all her chaos, life is a glorious gift 🤎 capture it, savor it!

🎞️ I took an accidental sabbatical from my film camera for the last year or so, but lately I’ve been drawn back to it, and have spent recent weeks grabbing it in favor of my digital as I run out the door to explore and admire.

Film makes you careful. Only 36 frames or so to get it right. To slow down, to be intentional. No overshooting, no instant gratification.

Perhaps it’s also reminiscent of nature. One can’t speed through and take endlessly. A magnificent spiraling tree trunk didn’t happen overnight. Years of wind and weather, growing rings as a record of time. Patience. Resilience and balance. And, worth slowing down for 🌿

Some views outside of the usual viewfinder, a few recent scenes from this little life behind the camera lens 🩵☕️🌲🌻 Our wonderful rainy days have painted the hills green, and the sun is stretching the evenings golden. Spring is nearly here. I awake each morning in this verdant valley, where the dawn pours in like honey, next to the one thing on Earth that I love more than the lands and oceans. This silly little app barely scratches the surface on the realness of life, and it certainly isn’t all wildflowers and adventures and softness. But even in her darker seasons, I feel that I must be one of the luckiest on momma 🌎 to exist at the same time as the humans and species that I adore, and in any season, I sure am grateful for all of it! 🍯🤎

Trail Sisters of Healdsburg and Santa Rosa tonight for this unique Tuesday night affair at 6 o’clock at Shiloh Ranch. We will run the trails and some cold snacks and ice cream while expanding our sisterhood love belief and supportive each other Trail Sisters forever.
