Love can be platonic and just as intimate, if not more. Beyond grateful to have cultivated a community that continues to keep my fountain overflowing. #doulasenespañol #birthworker #midwifery #bellywrap #partera

Our little mermaid baby! Baby girl was born partially en caul meaning that the amniotic sac was still covering her face and head on October 6th at 7:40pm surrounded by so much love and support. 🪷🤍🧜‍♀️

If I know exactly where I’m going to be in five years, I don’t want that life.

Don’t trip 🍄

Motherhood is a trip because it asks of me to strip away all of my illusions… leaving me bare naked with my truth, with my wounds, with my own inner child still asking for my attention. And yet, I wouldn’t change a thing about this gift I have been given because frankly I don’t remember what it was like to not have her in my life. #motherhood #postpartum #selflove #selfworth #wildwoman

Honor the rage! It’s likely been living dormant in your body long before giving birth. Make space for it, you deserve to embody the full spectrum of your becoming and unbecoming. Rage is your body’s compass dismantling all illusions, leaving you bare with nothing but the truth.

* One man’s trash is another man’s treasure *

It’s a gift to be an artist, because one can see the beauty in everything… it takes an artist eye (&hand) to transform the mundane into mystical ✨

For nine months, this umbilical cord carried oxygen, nutrients, and life from mother to baby. Instead of letting this part of their birth story be forgotten, this family chose to preserve it as a beautiful reminder of the first connection they shared.

Dear Interested in Photoplay:

I’m Montana. I’m a writer and translator, archival scholar, and film photographer.

Photoplays are collaborative and blend fashion, family photography, and narrative. They are ideal for those who are drawn to translate photos of actual or poetic ancestors into new portraits; and for those who want to make images focused on the self to accompany a poem, script, album, or other text.

In advance of our time together, we’ll compose a muse board of inspiring images. We’ll select and stage an environment (generally, I am based in New York, but sometimes in Rome, Rio, New Orleans, or Mexico City). During our photoplay, I’ll make two to three rolls of 35mm film on my Nikon F-2; I often play with techniques like double exposures. After, I’ll send you hi-res images of our work.

I am perpetually astonished by the serendipity of this work. As such, while there is base pricing, bartering and trading are beautiful and meaningful. I want to work with people drawn to the process!

Interest form in bio! 🌹🌹

Yesterdays closing of the bones ceremony was such a special full circle moment as it was honoring her redemptive birth of a successful VBAC. Not only that but also witnessing her catch her own baby in a hospital setting was the icing on the cake! So much love for this beautiful family… always grateful for the invitation to be apart of these rites of passages.

Whether your journey was empowering, unexpected, or somewhere in between, this ceremony offers deep tending to the body and spirit. It is a moment to be held, to be witnessed, and to gently call your essence back home.
