Artist Jane Cui’s first monograph came to life last year in poignant color mentored by Mark de Paola. Watch now to learn about her powerful story and the ways in which her photographic voice through the creation of this book is giving back to society and empowering women.

“Beauty lives in the eye of the beholder, but it also hides in the spaces we forget to look. In a world smoothed and polished beyond recognition, Bhutan revealed itself to me like an uncut gem. In its untouched culture, I found a beauty not shaped by possession or perfection, but by connection, tradition, and the quiet strength of the human spirit.”

The time has come. Let’s make a photo book 📕

No meaningful impact is ever made alone. It is built through the strength of a team and a community.

At dePAOLA Pictures @depaolapictures , what we value—pure artistry and stories rooted in human experience—cannot exist in a vacuum. It is both our responsibility and our commitment to share our knowledge and relationships with emerging artists who will help shape and elevate the future of the photographic medium. We champion individuality and create work that lives far beyond a fleeting moment.

We are thrilled to announce that we are once again offering the Monograph Masterclass this year, in partnership with Camera West @cameraweststore Leica Store San Francisco @leicastoresf and Brilliant @brilliant_graphics —bringing meaningful bodies of work into print as lasting expressions of photographic legacy and shared humanity.

A daily mantra in our studio: make it tangible.

We invite you to explore the program details, discover last year’s exceptional artists, and apply if you feel that the time is right. Head to Camerawest.com to learn more and apply.

Extremely proud of our 2025 artists who bravely shared their hearts and their work in print. It was an honor to lead beside you:

“My Eye” is an uplifting photographic book, seen through the lens of Jane Cui - a journey of reclamation, where untold stories quietly emerge into light.

Through her vision, we witness not just images, but moments of truth, resilience and rediscovery.

Thank you for this deeply moving work.

All proceeds from the book support Dr.
Chua Yang’s Women Inspiring Women series, empowering voices and stories that deserve to be seen and heard.

“Sacred Moments - Gasa Tshechu and Highland Life” Bhutan photo workshop.

The Punakha Sunday Market is a vibrant local gathering spot where farmers and villagers from surrounding areas come to sell fresh fruits, vegetables, and other local produce. It’s not just a place for trade but also a social hub where you get a slice of everyday Bhutanese life.

10 day workshop “Sacred Moments - Gasa Tshechu and Highland Life” Bhutan.

A young novice monk in Bhutan is often seen learning both the Bhutanese language (Dzongkha) and religious studies in the serene and peaceful environment of a monastery. These monasteries are places of deep spiritual practice, often surrounded by majestic mountains and breathtaking landscapes.
