Food fests from 9/30-10/4 post. #food #nyc #eats #nyceats #foodfestival

Starting with 10/4 - @eeeeeatscon

@goldenhofny x @banh.anhem - Suuuuuper delicious busan lobster banh mi. Despite everything on the banh mi (which banh anh em always has great bread) - I still tasted the lobster which was the biggest shock for me because it had ginger garlic mayo, gochugaru apple vinegarette, garlic chives, shiso, pickled carrots/daikon.
Somehow through all of that, the lobster still came out and I don't understand it. I just loved it.

The other main stand out was the caramelized crispy shallots. Just that sweetness with the crunch was so good against the soft lobster and creamy sauces before you get the after crispness of the bread on the way down.

@counterservice.eats x @sunnsnyc - Ssamwich! It really did feel like that - a ssam but with some dang good bread on it.
There's not much to say because to me - it's just a dang good ssam with braised brisket. And sometimes the simplicity lets the ingredients speak for themselves like here

@meilaiwahcoffeeshop - This was a confusing bite for me personally.
I wouldn't say it's for me but it wasn't bad either. I personally wouldn't have onions on either a fried pork chop or pineapple bun as the pineapple bun sweetness is lost. The pork chop, aioli, and bun itself were great individually.

But as a combination it just wasn't for me but I'm glad to have tried it.

@goldendinerny - I finally had their famous pancake. And it's a damn good fluffy pancake. I don't know what else to say besides the syrup and lemon zest on it was pretty tasty.

I wouldn't wait on line for it personally but I'd get this again if I wanted pancakes

Momofuku -

The nori fries were fine. It's just fries with furikake to me

But the katsu sando was not. I covered it with the chili crisp that is still inferior to lao gan ma - but the main thing is that the bread and slaw was stale. You can tell both of those were left out in the elements for too long while the katsu was fresh and hot and pretty good.

@laab.bar - Carbonara khao sou baybeeee!

This khao soi was extra creamy but the change up for guanciale and pork belly and cheese made this a really

🍎🍏 CIDER SEASON CAME TO BROOKLYN! 🍎🍏

On October 3, 2026, Flavors of America headed to Industry City for CiderFeast™ Brooklyn 2026 — an afternoon celebrating the incredible range of cider being produced in New York, New England and beyond.

Hosted by CiderFeast founder Jimmy Carbone, the all-inclusive festival brought together 15+ cidermakers, from longtime pioneers to small orchard-based producers doing fascinating things with apples, fermentation and terroir.

🍎 We met the makers.
🥂 We tasted the ciders.
🌳 We heard the stories behind the orchards.
🌶️ And, of course, we sampled some terrific food pairings along the way.

Among the producers pouring were 1911 Established, Atomic Dog Cider, Aval Cider, Eden Ciders, Frosty Twig Cider, Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery, Long View Cider, Nine Pin Cider Works, Occam Fine Cider, Orchard Hill Cider Mill at Soons, Original Sin Cider, Quartz Rock Cider House, Treasury Cider, Vermont Cider Co., Woodchuck Cider, Wayside Cider and more.

The food side brought plenty of flavor, too, with Achilles Heat, Coney Island Saucery, Goshen Kimchi, Jimmy’s No. 43, MuMsKitchens NYC, Tipsy Scoop and the Mike’s Hot Honey Team joining the celebration.

What we loved most?

This wasn’t simply about tasting cider. It was about meeting the people behind it — the farmers, cidermakers, orchard owners and food entrepreneurs turning local ingredients into something uniquely their own.

That’s exactly the kind of story we love telling.

Part 3/3 of my @pigislandnyc recap - The fun thing is to try everything and decide on your own favorites.

Like @kitchentime_kev had one of MY top 3 bites despite not getting an award. So it's a great reminder that taste is highly personal at the end of the day

This man used like 40 different ingredients and prep methods so I would love to highlight what I can (next slide)

#bbq #food #eats #pork #nycbbq

1. Cherry and Oak(iirc) smoked pork collar - I could taste the sweet smokiness coming off the pork alone. I took a very small bite of the part with nothing but the pork. Fantastic bite already and super tender

2. A scotch bonnet pickle blend - not spicy but great tang, flavor, and acid

3. Chicharron with crispy shallot and garlic - your crunch factor with tons of herbaceous vampire repellent powers

4. The glaze is Chef's own twist on a chinese pork belly sauce and with the @mikeshothoney twist adding a thick layer of sweet spicy

5. The cilantro and scallion blend for the cherry on top for a different earthy herbal taste

And this all blended into a bite of happiness with the soft pork, crunchy chicharron, and just layers and layers of flavor

Winner of the One Bite award - @philwingo 's team that will have anyone running for the Mafia, and not from

This team is like an avengers style of awesome people coming together for BBQ.

I am also totally biased because I use Pork Mafia rubs myself as well because it saves so much time as a person with many hobbies and they're very affordable everyday rubs and sauces

A little bite of everything. So many not one bite but each bite is perfection.

I got a ton of earthy bitterness upfront that melded so well with the pork's natural flavor and made the savory and umami levels in turn explode with just a hint of sweetness at the end. Plus the crackling skin was just bliss in a bite.

@mumskitchensnyc - A fan favorite that had a massive line. They actually sold out so make sure you beeline to them at @ciderfeasthq on October 3rd.

I came too late and everything but the samples sold out. My friend and I had a bite before I took a photo. Freaking delightful as always.

Speaking of Cider Feast did you know @woodchuckcid

When Rosh Hashanah coincides with @pigislandnyc, you eat an apple w/ honey Friday night and alllll the pigs on Saturday.

So many amazing bites at this year’s event, and finally an event day with no rain or 90-degree weather. Congrats to all of the winners and to @jimmypotsandpans for putting together another great event!

"New York's best will be at Pig Island NYC, including Brothers Barbecue, fresh off championships at Brisket King NYC and Rib King NYC. But the smoke's coming in from every direction this year. We’ll have Rodrigo Duarte of Don Rodrigo bringing flavors of Portugal by way of New Jersey, while Lewis Donald of Sweet Lew's BBQ and Tank Jackson of Holy City Hogs serve up Carolina wood smoke. Phil Wingo of Pork Mafia rolls in from Chicago with championship southern-style barbecue, and across the meadow, look for whole-hog roasts, Caribbean barbecue, Puerto Rican recipes, freshly picked vegetables from Snug Harbor's Heritage Farm, and a whole lot more."

@ribkingnyc Part 3/3 – Next event is in Staten Island for @pigislandnyc on 9/12. I cannot wait and I hope to see all of youthere as it’s a great close out to a summer of BBQ (make sure you follow each participant to hit them up too for your bbq needs until then)

1-2- @fireandsmokebbqny – Not the best pic of the team but that’s because the rib was so darn good yet perplexing. It’s so always so hard to find a solid mustard sauce in NYC that I had to take a moment to really take it in. It had a bit of sweetness with a bit of punchiness coming in from the south Carolina style sauce in between the smoke and heat ready to cook any rain coming down. Not to mention the really freaking good mac underneath it soaking in all that smokey goodness from the rib and just becoming one of my favorite sides of the day. Perfectly tender and delicious rib that I just snapped right up and forgot to get a better photo of both the team and Chef Samuel. But that in itself is a testament to how freaking good this rib was!

3- @pinaq_liqueur – Dangerously refreshing and delicious tropical liquors. Also really cool bottles and love seeing them every time.

4 - @achilles_heat – I had to heat things up a bit before my next and final bite and I’m just like… what better way than my favorite smoked hot chili crisps and sauces? Had to get another jar of their chili crisp because it goes on freaking everything and makes it better.

5-9- @mikeshothoney ft. @kitchentime_kev – Winner of the Swisy Award (sweet and spicy) – Because once again, Chef Kevin has proved that hot honey works on any BBQ dish. Both a delicious and beautiful rib and loaded with a sneaking heat that comes in out of nowhere as you enjoy this sweet glaze loaded onto a well cooked rib and finished with a tropical delight to bring in a bit of tart so you experience the rib with all your senses. Also the tweezer

10- @upstatevodka – Probably my favorite vodka because the apples lend so much to create a flavorful vodka that can mix with anything. I had to snag another bottle with the Rib King discount

11 - @mumskitchensnyc – Perfect little finisher to all the meats and happy little bites in the rain!
