Today was so sweet. Over the top! Dear @mundomiosf and @albert.flores.3363334 visited and brought me the fruit basket of my dreams, one that would make Carmen Miranda proud! Those strawberries! 🍓 We drank bubbles 🥂 distantly but together on my porch, toasted Albert’s birthday today 🎉, only removing our masks to blunder through the lyrics to “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” at noon and to take sips of bubbles 🍾 from the sweet vintage pink coupes from my friend @spider.on.the.path. Beautiful friends sharing beautiful gifts and moments. I am so grateful for this abundant day of love and beauty and kindness. Dear friends are one the greatest gifts in our lives. I just keep saying thank you, thank you, thank you. And especially to the people who picked this produce during this extremely perilous time. It’s a lot to think about. 🙏❤️

While the food and atmosphere and gorgeous Champagne and caviar were all wonderful, it’s always about the people! That’s what makes a party truly special. Thank you to alllll my readers who came, many from the very beginning, 14 years ago! Thank you to everyone who helped pull this off (the crew at @lilyonclement was so great), and I can’t imagine rocking an event without Helen and Dino, I love you guys. Thank you to sisters and owners Lucy and Lily Lieu for hosting us and letting us be the first to experience your beautiful new restaurant, we are all so excited to have chef Rob Lam cook his soul food for us! That was an amazing preview. Like the special @champagnehenriot Cuvée Hemera 2005 🍾 I got to taste at the end of our feast, named after the Greek goddess of daylight, I can’t wait to see the paper off the windows and the light streaming into this stunning restaurant! Last night’s tablehopper spirited supper at @besharamsf with @mountgayrum was such a feast! It was quite a hot night, but the GLIF (Good Looking Indian Friends) welcome punch with Mount Gay Black Barrel, Besharam-spiced iced tea, peaches, and citrus was there to cool us down 🙌, along with the bites of Drunken Pani Puri (with @thebotanistgin!) served by chef @besharamheena herself! (Plus their A/C, thank goddess!) The kanji wada tapioca fritters, dahi wada lentil dumplings with chilled yogurt, and corn puda chickpea flour pancakes with seared corn were such a hit! Such savory, fantastic apps.
