Working on my 8th European Championships here in Birmingham triggered a trip down memory lane. From creating the first ever European Youth gathering, a predecessor of the now well established European Leaders Forum, to Event Presentation producer, Creative Director and now Broadcast Producer, it feels like all editions represent milestones along my career in athletics. Thankful for all the wonderful people I met along the way, the unforgettable memories and the joy it brought to my life. Silesia28 next?

My first Europeans. Very wet yet beautiful to see our Munich Olympiastadion buzzing. And birthplace for the European Athletics Young Leaders Forum. Little me wouldn’t have dreamt of returning to the same place 20 years later as Creative Director for the multisport European Championships 2022, the biggest sport event Munich celebrated since the 1972 Olympics.

A long way to go as this picture clearly indicates: Part of the German Federation Delegation to the first European Youth Forum in Göteborg. Met great people, had fun, got drunk and fell in love with the Ullevi (the beautiful stadium in Göteborg). Btw, one of my fellow delegates, Jochen, is now chairman of the supervisory board of German Athletics.

Beautiful Ullevi 🤩

Met Carolina Klüft. She asked for a picture.

Can’t remember a lot of Zürich 2014 and didn’t figure out selfies yet. But it says WOOOW in the background so must have been amazing…

Amsterdam 2016 and the three stooges. Milk for lunch. Bikes to commute to work. What’s not to love.

and most importantly one of the most fun teams I ever got to work with. Amsterdam can do athletics. And recently found out their pride is also quite good.

Another Europeans, another role. And it came with free Berlino spa treatments.

…and with a dream team (including mic wife Julia) to work together as host at my other favorite stadium, the Berlin Olympics Stadium. Iconic. A stage worthy of our local heroes. And another Deja-vue after working on the 2009 World Championships. 9 years later, Berlin showed everyone it still got it.

The connect to Birmingham: Matthew Hudson-Smith. European Champion in 2018 and these days trying to do it all over again at his home tow

Alexandra Burghardt sagt SERVUS 👋🥹❤️
