Only a genius or a misanthrope can come to terms with the fact that there is a price to pay for being able to see beyond the world that they inhabit. Surely, fervent admirers of Christopher Nolan's brand of cinema stress that he belongs to the former class. Needless to say, his reputation precedes him, and his latest offering goes on to elucidate why!

Nolan's awe-inspiring ability to provide memorable cinematic experiences, aided by his desire to entertain and educate, is on full display in his much-talked-about hit #Oppenheimer; a tent-pole feature that has him putting his trust in science to make a giant splash on the big screen, yet again.

Historically accurate and technically brilliant, it ends up providing a sharp lesson in both filmmaking and science, while doing its best to chronicle the triumph and tragedy of the "American Prometheus".

As the life of the charismatic physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer unfolds on-screen through Cillian Murphy's career-defining act, we realize that it is a story about a genius being told by a genius. The actor's blue-eyed stare is so intense that one truly feels like they're peeking right into the heart of one of science's greatest salesmen.

The film takes you to an incredible moment in time when the unrivaled power of physics culminated into a weapon of mass destruction. Indeed, the screenplay maintains a thick air of tension that only peaks as you experience the big bang in the desert on a large IMAX screen.

While Murphy is unquestionably in the driver's seat here, his heroics are only elevated with the undeniable presence of able screen performers like Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh.

That said, the motion picture does feel a tad lengthy, but it is never slow or soporific. Also, not once do you feel that its makers are attempting to sanctify their central protagonist. On the contrary, it's a commendable presentation of a man of upstanding character whose loyalty to the United States of America coincided with his alleged disloyalty to humanity.

Nolan, at the apex of his abilities and with some scientific jargon to boot, ensures that his dream project lives up to its tremendous hype.
