This is Seb @plt22711 I saw him playing his piano box outside Union Station today. His friend told me that the owner of the building, kitty corner, offered to pay him 3k/month to play somewhere else. Seb explained to me how he likes to take traditional rag time, tin pan alley, and other popular songs from the turn of the century, out of Missouri and into the strip clubs. (sorry Seb, I forgot what other state you mentioned.) He said, "How would Jelly Roll Morton play these songs?" He said he likes to change the traditional rag time marching beat and give it some Cuban flavour. In my opinion, he's adding a sway or swing to the rhythm giving these beautiful tradtional melodies new life. Thank you for giving me some of your time Seb. Go get some food and water and sleep so you may live to play again my friend.
