Tonight I’ll be embroidering this jaguar onto my quilt, as part of @gallerynightmke at @saintkatearts for my Inviting Abundance exhibition with @museumofwiart! 🐆🐅 I photographed sweet Filly at the @milwaukeecozoo.

I began this new 3x3’ quilt while teaching at @sanbornmillsfarm last week. 💕 My next in person retreat is with @ayafiberstudio, link in bio.

The final days to see Leave Your Baggage at the Door. This exhibition has been a wonderful opportunity to bring together works from different periods of my practice and see them coalesce in conversation with one another.
Sharing a few installation views as the exhibition comes to a close.

Abundance Study no. 5, is an example of the quilting I’ll be teaching just after Thanksgiving, at @ayafiberstudio in Stuart, Florida! This quilt is currently exhibited with @museumofwiart at @saintkatearts in Milwaukee.

The 5-day retreat is Hand Appliqué, from Tiny to Humongous. Small class size. No sewing machines needed. Beginners welcome. Just time to sew, enjoy the weather, and play with composition.

What luck to stumble upon the opening of the stunning @museumofwiart #textilearts exhibit ”Inviting Abundance” at @saintkatesart and meet the artist, Heidi Parkes!!

Made from materials such as handkerchiefs, clothing that belonged to loved ones (reminding me of the Quilts from Gees Bend), heirloom items, and vintage textiles, each quilt is a visual page from a diary of a rich life.

It’s hard to choose a favorite. I love “Bloom, Becoming, Intrepid, Flourish” with the chiku-chiku sampler and exquisite #sashiko stitching, but the one that resonates with me is “Magical Thinking Attempt no 7” inspired by floaters.

The exhibit is on view until 29 November. If you go during @gallerynightmke on Friday, 16 October, you might get to meet Heidi, too.
