Yesterday I did a road trip in preparation for my Christmas workshops… firstly a trip to my favourite driftwood and sea glass collecting beach - I always find beach combing so therapeutic. Then after a lovely coffee with my cousin I headed over to @musgrovewillows to pick up a car load of willow. Then I unloaded it into a temporary storage before it goes to its final storage space - my friend’s shed! Not long now till the crazy Christmas crafting season begins. 🎄🤶 Still lots more prep to do but feeling chuffed with my productive start! 😇

@oregonlulu wins as first to pickup willow today! Of course I wanted to see the INCREDIBLE drying tray she made in @woventhresholds class this past weekend. What a gorgeous piece. I can’t wait to see what you make with all the @musgrovewillows willow too! It was so wonderful to see you and show you the farm a tiny bit. 🧺❤️

We did it! After piles of paperwork and logistics and planning, not to mention time spent growing and boiling and stripping and processing, @musgrovewillows gorgeous buff, white and noir willow is easily available in the US. We can’t possibly be more thrilled!

Steaming willow from @musgrovewillows is, for me, one of theee most satisfying things to do with sticks. Looks amazing and smells awesome. Getting there @stanleysquaresale😉 ssshhhhhh🤫👍🏻❤️🐐

Did you guess it?
It was a cheekily misleading. The structure was the framework for an awesome piece that I am creating for @stanleysquare for Christmas. This will be added to the angel, star and to Stanley the stag and his family. I'm always so greatful to Tony and his team for trusting me with the Christmas Decs.
I'm loving the challenges that these big pieces bring esp. without using a metal armature. The thicker willow formed into trangles makes a solid structure to build onto. So the thick sticks of willow aren't a suggestion of a three legged giraffe 😉
Some of you guessed. I left a clue in the comments.
Anyway the next stage is weaving onto the structure, sorting some arms and then maybe his hat and scarf. Maybe a special nose that's orange and sounds like parrot.
😉🤪😉🤪👍🏻❤️🐐
Surely you've got it now. 😉🐐❤️👍🏻

Turn on your notifications to see the finiahed piece first. 👍🏻❤️🐐

It’s here! It’s on the website! And you can order it now in the USA! I am so beyond over the moon to have a copy of this book and to be able to offer it to others. Without a doubt, this is the most incredible encyclopedia of knowledge. I haven’t found anything even close to as in informative on the market in terms of growing soaking varieties, etc. I highly recommend! Rachel Hutton, @jackfarmswillow, the rest of @musgrovewillows family and @dave_budd_handmade_tools have put together the best reference book for all things willow weaving that I’ve ever seen!

This might be the prettiest tray I’ve ever made. ☺️ the base was a gift and the willow is buff and white from the glorious @jackfarmswillow. Without a doubt, my current favorite make.
