If you want to make change in this world, no matter how big or small, it has to start from within.

We talk a lot about adding value and making a difference, but if we’re not prepared to use our voice, our platform, and our presence in the spaces that matter, how can we truly contribute to change?

Yesterday I had the privilege of being part of the Second Corner Symposium at Brixton House, discussing the question: Does paid work help or harm 13-15 year olds?

It was an important, honest, and powerful conversation about young people, community, opportunity, and the work being done to create real impact.

Grateful to have been part of it.

Today was one of those special moments 💫

Watching the students I’ve been mentoring find the courage to step up and perform… not just anywhere, but in front of DJ AG one of the most superstar relevant DJs in the UK right now it was powerful.

This is what it’s all about. Building confidence. Creating belief. Turning fear into action. And today, they did that 👏🏾 I’m so proud of every single one of them.

Big thank you to Focus First Academy for making this happen and bringing AG in. And respect to AG himself for the platform he’s creating for the community real impact, real inspiration. One of our own 🙌🏾

Also honoured to have the Mayor of Broxbourne in the building, representing the culture with pride.

Moments like this remind me why I do what I do. Proud to be a music mentor.

Big up all the staff and all the students at Focus First Academy you’re amazing. Can’t believe the 6 weeks is already coming to an end… gonna be emotional handing out those certificates next week ❤️

Sometimes I sit back and think… imagine if I had MC Det & DJ Brockie come into my school back in the day, showing me the ropes, teaching me to DJ, lining me up for Telepathy or even getting me ready for pirate radio like Kool FM… 🤯

That kind of guidance would’ve changed everything even earlier for me.

That’s why the youth today matter so much. We’re in a position now to give them the advantage we never had. Through Music Through The Bars, I’m not just talking it I’m living it. While I’m still active, still out here, I want to pour as much game, knowledge, and inspiration into the next generation as possible.

Because all it takes is a few lights to switch on… and a whole life can change.

This is bigger than music. This is purpose. 💯🔥

Week 2 at Focus 1st Academy 📚🎤

Another powerful session with the young people as part of my Music Through The Bars mentoring workshop. I just want to say how much I genuinely enjoy doing this.

If I’m not on a stage with a microphone in my hand, then you’ll probably find me in a classroom, a university, or even a prison, sharing knowledge and using music as a tool to inspire and uplift.

This is another side of Maxwell D that means a lot to me — giving back, guiding the next generation, and passing on the lessons I’ve learned through music and life.

Grateful for the opportunity to do what I love. The journey continues.

Epic night at the @inspireawards_uk this weekend. Hearing my name echo across those big screens for Best Role Model of the Year… that feeling alone was a win. 🙏🏾 Even without taking home the award, being recognised for the impact, the mentoring, the work in our communities — that meant everything.

Massive thank you to @tru_powell , @pelepowell , all the organisers, the whole team behind such a powerful event. We need more nights like this for our Black industry in the UK — nights that celebrate us, uplift us, and give us our flowers while we can smell them. 🌟

Big up my mum for standing beside me on this journey, and Desiree, my business partner — Team MD always moving with purpose. ❤️

More to come:
💥 @musicthroughthebars — growing the mentoring movement
🌍 Serious World Charity — building impact step by step
🎶 EP “Serious World” drops Dec 17th
💿 Album “Emotional Intelligence (E.I.)” drops 2026

This chapter is only the beginning. Let’s keep inspiring. ✨🔥

Last night was truly special. ❤️
I had the honour of attending the @inspireawards_uk in Birmingham, nominated for Best Role Model of the Year — but what made the night unforgettable was having my mum by my side, walking her onto the red carpet for the first time in my career. That alone made me feel like a winner already. 🌟

After everything I’ve been through this year, to stand in that room, to be recognised for the mentoring, the music, the community work, the schools, universities and prisons I’ve spoken in… it hit me differently. I felt seen. I felt valued. I felt blessed. 🙏🏾

Big respect to @tru_powell for putting on an epic first-year awards show — the energy, the love, the production, everything was top tier. So many powerful Black creatives, leaders, entrepreneurs and celebrities all under one roof celebrating excellence. 💛🖤

Massive congratulations to all the winners, and big up every single finalist and nominee — being recognised is a win in itself. Salute to everyone I saw and connected with on the night. 💫

A night I’ll never forget. A night for my family, for my business partner Desiree, and for everyone who’s been supporting my journey. We keep rising. 🚀
