LAUNCH • MOUNTAIN OBJECTS • SEASON 01

“Tea is a way of tasting the mountain. Clay offers a way to touch it.”

For Season 01, we bring together two ceramic practices, each approaching the mountain through clay.

Different materials, forms and traditions of making translate the landscape into objects for tea and everyday life, shaped by earth, fire and use.

THE CROWDFUND IS NOW LIVE - We have THIRTY DAYS (30!!!) to reach our target of 75k! If you can’t justify the higher rewards please please think about giving something smaller - even 5 quid will help us get to the front page of kickstarter .. or share it with a friend! The link is in my bio

I started this crowdfund because I wanted the people who have been to otaku, and truly understand what that word means and the experience I want to create, to be a part of what we’re trying to do next.

You’d be the reason this restaurant exists and I won’t be able to thank you enough #chef #kickstarter #dream #londonrestaurant #foodie

Celebrating 9 years of our tiny tea boutique. This day 9 years ago we collected the keys to the shop space. It’s gone so fast sometimes we don’t know how we got here. Thanks to everyone who has been there, for the tea and the pots. And here’s to many more years of good tea and even better tea friends. We love you 💚🍵💚

This beautiful tea set up is at home, enjoying delicious new shou puerh from David & Kathy @theessenceoftea made in an exquisite Gaiwan by Kyri @muzuriware and our favourite porcelain tea bowls from Jaejun Lee @jaejunlee_ceramics

Thank you 🍵

Wow !! @otakupopup is over. It’s been over 20 months of welcoming strangers into my home to trust me to cook them a stupidly long tasting menu..
You see it’s less about the food and more about creating an atmosphere where people feel wholeheartedly comfortable and looked after by people who love what they do. The delicious food is just an added bonus.
I can’t possibly thank everyone of the guests who have come or the people who helped me out individually but know that | am grateful for you trusting me with your time and money do and I couldn’t have done any of this without you. Thanks to all the artists who came to sing and especially my family who were so patient with me opening our home to a bunch of strangers twice a month.
Exciting things coming in the next 2/3 weeks so keep your eyes peeled and just know that I won’t stop until | get what I set out for @mymichelinmission

For this FOODclub studio feature, we sat down with Shiyi Liu (@_liushiyi_) and Zipu Zhudi (@z.zipu) of Yanwu (@yanwu.official).
Six generations of Dancong tea, carried from the mountains of Chaozhou to London. Touching on the practice of tea, ritual, and the cadence created by paying attention to the details.

New feature on the Substack. Link in bio.

The next restaurant in the line-up is none other than… @ynyshirrestaurant in Wales! ⭐️⭐️

A fiercely original Michelin-starred retreat where chef Gareth Ward’s intense, ingredient-driven tasting menus, influenced by cuisines from around the world, redefine modern British cooking. Fun dining - way beyond just fine dining.

There’s something wonderfully fitting about bringing traditional kintsugi to a restaurant so unafraid to do things differently. Swipe through to see the before and after transformations.

1) Bowl by @sarahjerath - a rare opportunity to buy an early work the renowned potter, one of the pioneers of using foraged earth that relates to a place and that transcends time. Now focussing more on large sculptural vessels, “… each carries the story of the terrain from whence it comes, each piece a meditation of our relationship with the earth.”

2, 3 & 4) Bowls and a plinth by @muzuriware - a ceramics studio based in Highgate, founded by Kyri Mouzouris. With a background in architectural design and a hands-on foundation in carpentry, blacksmithing, and ceramics - the studio specialises in the creation of refined, functional utility ware. Kyri’s practise is deeply influenced by Japanese craft and design principles, with a particular emphasis on texture, material integrity, and the beauty of imperfection.

5) Yunomic Mug repaired using ki-urushi lacquer for the glue and putty, kuro urushi lacquer for the intermediary layers of lacquer and bengara urushi for the final layer of lacquer beneath the 23.75 carat gold.

Thank you Ynyshir for being part of this project, and for supporting @cr_uk 🙏

Auction opens 7th September via @tennantsauction - link in bio for details.
