USUS: the right to use, to enjoy.

The first of three rights that Roman law cites as the basis for DOMINION– full legal ownership.

Defining property lines and borders, DOMINION is codified in enclosures.

Enforcing and protecting the privatized,
they operate both offensively and defensively:
protecting the interior by aggressively demarcating the exterior.
Taking care by giving caution.

While most can’t afford the privilege of full ownership, many strive.
And for them, there are rentals & leases.
The opportunity to occupy for a portion of the property’s perceived price.
Until such a point where they can claim their own.

Usus here is as much about the space it encloses as it is about the space on which it is granted the right to reside.

Because we all deserve a little space.
