Last night, 302RE responded into Monroeville as the RIT, for a possible kitchen fire. The fire was quickly extinguished.

302RE is equipped for both fire & rescue capabilities, and as a RIT assignment, we have: RIT bag, FAST Board, Hurst Spreaders & Cutters, Genesis Combi Tool, Several Saws & cribbing.

Using our RE for RIT also gives us the ability to grab a water supply or be a fire attack piece if needed.

While on standby for the City of New Kensington; during their large brush fire, Truck 115 was dispatched to a Brush Fire endangering a Structure in Plum Borough, assisting Renton (234)

On arrival of 234 Chief, the fire was found to have spread to multiple vehicles and endangering more area/structures. Truck 115 arrived and set up for aerial operations and deployed a line to protect apparatus from impinging fire spread.

Tanker 115 and Brush 115 followed in behind the Truck. Tanker 115 supplied @lfhvfd235 Engine, and our Brush crew started working on fire that now jumped across the roadway.

Tanker 115 operated as a Nurse Tanker for the northern portion of the incident assisted by tankers from @lower_burrell_vfc1 Washington Twp (102) @westleechburgvfd Crews worked for 3.5 hours until clearing the scene

We want to thank standby and transfer companies who helped on our end of the incident. Multiple rotations and types of resources were needed.

A second, but HUGE thank you to our non-emergency active members, social members, and life members who made sure that our Fish Fry ran without any issues in the absence of our fire crews. To handle emergencies and a large fundraiser together is proof of the dedication of our total membership💪🏼

Since 12/1/24, our members have responded to 100 calls for service.

Busy Sunday evening for our department…. 236-Truck & 236-Engine assisted Murrysville Fire with smell of smoke at Ferris’s Pharmacy with the truck crew finding the source after a deep search. On the way back from that call, we were dispatched to a possible structure fire on Blue Ridge. Crews arrived on scene quickly and we were supported by units from other Plum departments & Monroeville. Earlier in the evening we assisted Plum EMS with a emergency medical call.

Crews started off the week participating with mutual aid companies in a Traffic Incident Management Program (TIMS), regarding safe roadway operations. Safety is a must as most incidents involve us working or parking on roadways. Traffic makes up nearly 30% of injuries and fatalities to first responders annually nationwide.

As the winds picked up and warmer weather moved in, brush and field fire responses increased. Our volunteers have responded to 8 incidents; 7 weather related, in the past 72 hours. Rain is forecasted to move into the area today.
