I really loved the short chapters. It kept the pace moving and with the addition of the multiple pov it also kept me guessing and had some mini cliffhangers throughout at times. At first it seems like there is a lot going on but I was happy that it was easy to follow. All the moving parts really come together and make for a suspenseful case. I liked the development of Jack and Jill and how they came together as a team. Saint also was well fleshed out. The ending was not what I expected but it made me think a little differently about some characters and their decisions.

This was a fast-paced procedural thriller with a surprise enemies-to-lovers twist — and I loved every minute of it! 💥

Jack Ludlum is the brawn-first, act-now type; Jill Jarred is the brilliant investigator with razor-sharp instincts — and his longtime rival.
As they dig deeper, they’re pulled into a dark world of incels, white supremacists, and corruption within law enforcement, while a media frenzy threatens to derail their investigation. The tension between Jack and Jill crackles on every page — will their clashing personalities destroy the case… or each other?
My thoughts:
I love a thriller with short, snappy chapters, and even though this one clocks in at 400 pages, it’s an addictive, fast read. The enemies-to-lovers angle was such a fun and unexpected addition. Beneath all the suspense, this story also explores deeper themes — violence against women, toxic masculinity, and the isolation that can twist into something dangerous.
If you’re into gritty, character-driven thrillers with a pulse-pounding pace and real emotional depth, this one’s for you.
