A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Wilderness and Travel Medicine Symposium last weekend!

As always, I was astounded by the quality of the presentations and am incredibly grateful to our speakers for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise with us.

We hope everyone walked away having learned something new, had some fun, and made a few new friends along the way. That combination of learning, camaraderie, and shared passion is what makes this community so special.

Thank you all for being part of it. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Eastern Mountain Sports is proud to support the Observatory as its official uniform partner, providing technical outdoor kit for the staff who live, work and carry out vital scientific work in one of the most demanding environments in North America. ❄️

At the summit of Mount Washington, the weather can change in an instant. High winds, extreme cold, driving rain, snow and reduced visibility are all part of life for the team at Mount Washington Observatory, a place known as the Home of the World's Worst Weather.

Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS) is a non-profit institution focused on cutting-edge weather science, innovative educational programs, and extreme weather technology.

Since 1932, weather observers have staffed the station year-round, 24/7, to maintain one of North American’s longest alpine climate data sets. Today, they also produce specialized recreational, state-wide, and seasonal forecasts that benefit over 6 million annual visitors to the region. MWOBS staff brave the mountain’s harsh conditions to conduct weather and climate research, while also increasing access to Mount Washington for students to learn about extreme weather, forecasting, and data science.📈

I’m excited to kick off a book talk series at the charming Cook Memorial Libary in Tamworth, NH November 7 at 5pm co-hosted by @wonalancetoutdoorclub and @cook_memorial_library

Come learn how to read the ecology along New Hampshire’s high peaks trails, and the longterm science that has shaped our understanding, as I share stories and highlights from my forthcoming book Ecology of New Hampshire’s 4,000-Foot Mountains. I’ll also be signing books after the talk.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. See you there

You never know what to expect on the top of this mountain. This time it was 80mph winds, -9 degree wind chill, clear skies, oh yeah and the love of my life! Special thanks to @babel_photos for scheming with me for months to capture this special moment!
