Breaking down what goes on inside a session with a NBL1 athlete @mwugol

Testing Manyiel’s ability to shoot across various modes of fadeaway’s and quick release shots off DHO’s and screen’s was the focus of this session.

Building environments that test his adaptability and capability to shoot different shots on demand.

3 Places to Create Contact

1. In the air
2. On the pick up
3. On the dribble

The “how” will change for everyone, which is why I don’t preach one move over another, let players figure out what works for them.

Placing problematic constraints with cues that change each rep, directly influence athletes ability to act upon and solve to perform different outcomes.

Different outcomes each rep from the same constraints.

Warm ups don’t have to be boring!!

A quality of some of the most elite shooters is adaptability. Here we’re specifically targeting the exit angle, resulting in changing arcs.

There is an important tradeoff between more arc and the stress that puts on direction, so more arc isn’t always better!

@mwugol is one of the best I’ve seen at doing this, excited to see it in action this NBL1 Central season!

Please join us in welcoming Manny Wugol to our amazing club for the NBL1 Central 2026 Season!

He has spent the last 3 seasons playing in the NBL1 West and even trained with the Perth Wildcats. We can't wait to see what he brings from his experience is such a tough league.

There’s a lot more to being a good shooter than literally shooting the basketball.

Awareness, decision making, adaptability

Try this game in your next small group and let’s keep building in-game shooters, not elite practice players!
