Kasper Siderius’ full presentation about MX3D and MX3D ArtLab is now live on YouTube.

As Head of Production at MX3D, Kasper shows how robotic metal 3D printing is used for large-scale art, design and architecture.

Projects can start with a complete digital workflow or something as simple as a handmade model made from steel wire and beeswax.

He also explains why printer size, overhangs, seams, assembly and finishing must be considered from the beginning of the design.

Watch the full presentation through the YouTube playlist linked in the Addidex Connect bio.

Final piece developed during my residency at @mx3d.official ⛓️‍💥 A computational growth system translated into robotic metal deposition, where geometry, material behaviour and fabrication remain visible in the final surface.

During my residency at @mx3d.official I explored how natural growth structures could be translated into a computational system. The design evolved through digital iterations, testing density, scale and printability before being adapted to WAAM and built layer by layer in metal, creating an ongoing dialogue between code, material behaviour and fabrication.

W-LMD (Meltio) -

Take a look behind the scenes of Project Schilderwerkplaats-A5.

From design and structural testing to robotic printing, assembly, and installation, the full workflow shows how WAAM technology can make architectural production faster, more efficient, and more sustainable.

By improving material efficiency, reducing CO₂ emissions, and minimizing transportation through local, on-demand production, and by enabling the use of standard construction metals, this project highlights the potential of WAAM in the future of architecture.

Together with architects Julie Fuchs and Jasper Felsch, we’re proud to bring Project Schilderwerkplaats-A5 to the National Steel Prize of the Netherlands.

Imagine having some of the world’s best 3D printed art in your living room. Remove them from their art museums, their studios, their corporate lobbies and put them on your coffee table.

If you back Impossible Works on Kickstarter, these confirmed contributors could be displayed on your bookshelf:

Tanatilsur by Nick Ervinck
Ceramic House by Studio RAP
Quin Pendant Lamp by Bathsheba Grossman
TECLA by WASP
Kinematics Dress by Nervous System
All Things Fall by Mat Collishaw
