Tomorrow we’re bringing the FREAKY KIKI HORROR BALL @fkhball TO @screamdiegocon!! See you at the panel at 5pm! 5:00 PM – “From Ballrooms to Bloodbaths” Hosts Joe Fejeran, Amber St. James, Joshua Napier, and Shraven will present this exciting panel, “From Ballrooms to Bloodbaths: Celebrating Queer and Black Horror at The Freaky Kiki Horror Ball.” Horror has always been a home for outsiders and many of its most groundbreaking stories have been created by Queer and Black artists, performers, and fans. This panel explores the rich legacy of Queer and Black horror, from cult classics by pioneering filmmakers along with ballroom culture and the intersections of drag performance with modern horror icons. Panelists will also celebrate the upcoming third annual Freaky Kiki Horror Ball, a one-of-a-kind experience that fuses horror, ballroom, community, and philanthropy. Panelists will discuss how horror can serve as a vehicle for identity, resistance, joy, and chosen family while highlighting the importance of preserving LGBTQ+ history through the Ball’s beneficiary, Lambda Archives of San Diego. Attendees will leave inspired to celebrate horror as a space where everyone can survive… and shine. #screamdiego #freakykikihorrorball #kikiball

THE SHAPE OF OUR JOY — OFFICIAL TRAILER & SCREENING ANNOUNCEMENT 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 After months of conversations, filming, editing, and sitting with the stories that make up this project, I am so incredibly excited to finally share The Shape of Our Joy with the world. The Shape of Our Joy is a feature-length documentary exploring queer and trans joy — not as the absence of struggle, but as something we create, protect, practice, and make possible for one another. At a time when queer and trans lives are so often reduced to narratives of suffering, violence, and survival, this film asks us to imagine something more. What happens when we tell stories not only about what we have endured, but about what makes our lives worth living? What does it mean to experience joy in a world that so often works to deny it to us? And who and what makes that joy possible? Through intimate conversations about identity, community, chosen family, art, resistance, and becoming, this film is both a celebration of queer and trans life and an insistence that our stories deserve to be told in their fullness. I am endlessly grateful to everyone who trusted me with their stories and helped bring this project to life. This film exists because of you. SCREENING: This Thursday, Oct 15, 2026 @ 6:30 in the Degheri Center (DAC 120) in the Alumni Center (I recommend parking in the Main Parking Structure). DETAILS: a Q&A with many of the film’s participants will follow immediately after the film to learn more about them and their experiences. The full film will also be released on YouTube on Thursday, Oct 15 @ 6:30 PM PST for those that can’t attend the screening in person. For now, here is a first look at The Shape of Our Joy. We deserve more than survival. We deserve lives overflowing with possibility, connection, tenderness, and joy. And our joy has never had just one shape✨

THE SHAPE OF OUR JOY — JOIN US FOR THE SCREENING! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 After nearly a year of imagining, creating, listening, learning, and putting the pieces together, The Shape of Our Joy is finally ready to be shared with the world. 💜 This film has been a labor of love in every sense of the phrase. What began as an idea has grown into something far bigger than I could have imagined, and I am so incredibly excited to finally share it with all of you. To the incredible people who trusted me with their stories, their vulnerability, and their joy: thank you. It has been an extraordinary privilege to hold these stories, and I hope I’ve done them justice. To everyone who supported this project, believed in its vision, and helped bring it to life in ways big and small, I am endlessly grateful. And to everyone who will come to the screening, watch the film, and carry these stories forward, thank you, too. My greatest hope is that these conversations, connections, and possibilities continue long after the credits roll. SCREENING: This Thursday, Oct 15 @ 6:30 PM in Degheri Center (DAC 120) in the Alumni Center (I recommend parking in the Main Parking Structure). DETAILS: There will be a Q&A with many of the film’s participants immediately following the film to get to know them and their experiences even better. After a year of pouring so much of my heart into this project, it’s finally time to set it free. These stories were never mine to keep. They were always meant to be shared. I can’t wait to experience this with you. 💜
