This movie is “my interpretation” of characters in the Batman comics… A year ago this film was just going to be little Instagarm reels, but Veronika LaVery who plays Catwoman and Mya Baker who’s Harley Quinn, were both so good that I decided I should maybe expand this into something more like a short film. I’d also been looking for a project where I could combine my “Avant-Garde Cinema” art school, background, with a “Hollywood Movie” type of subject matter, and this seemed like the perfect fit. It’s still in progress at the moment, and we’ll be shooting some more scenes soon… but the basic idea is that I wanted to do something like a “street level” take on these characters, like a 70’s crime movie with no CGI monsters running around, and in most of the live action films you get “the origin story” of Catwoman, but I wanted to do something where she’s already as well known in this movie’s world as the character is in popular culture… Everybody already knows who Catwoman is I thought Catwoman should be a cross between Robin Hood and Zorro, stealing from the corrupt rich people of Gotham, and giving to the poor on the fringe of the City. The “cat head” sticker logo is like “The mark of Zorro/mark of Catwoman” …plus Batman’s got a logo, shouldn’t she have a logo too? Harley Quinn is more like a crazy party girl on a crime spree, but since they both live “outside the law” they’ve kind of banded together. Their names are “aliases”, the outfits are disguises that hide their true identifies, but their “signature colors” are more like “fashion statements” that let you instantly know “who you’re dealing with”. Every piece of clothing in Harley Quinn’s closet is either “Red, Black, or White” and everything Catwoman owns is just “Black”... If you like this little movie and want to see more? Consider subscribing to my new Patron page, the money from that will go toward these costumes and props, along with renting of film equipment, as well as other “artistic things” I’ll be sharing online -thanks #dccomics #cosplay

This project began as a photo series about “Costume Design” in movies… with some “little video clips” to accompany the photos… but the video clips kind of took over the project… I wanted to do a photo series that was like the kinds of “Wardrobe Tests” done for Hollywood movie. This case was for my interpretation of Characters in Batman Comics and Films. 1/5 Here are “Catwoman” portrayed by Veronkia LaVery and “Harley Quinn” by Mya Baker. @veronicalaveryofficial @myab.modeling 2/5 Are examples of the kinds of “Wardrobe Tests” done for some of the Batman films from the 1980’s and 90’s 3/5 Is the more recent Maggot Robbie outfit based on a photo of Debbie Harry… so I thought “If Harley Quinn dresses like Debbie Harry, then Catwoman would probably be more like Joan Jett” 4/5 I also wanted to stick to the “Signature Colors” of each character from the comic books 5/5 Finally these are some of the inspiration photos I emailed out to Veronika and Mya to prepare for the shoot There’s a more in depth description of this process on my Patreon account if you’d like to check it out https://www.patreon.com/cw/TimLohr
