JOSHUA TREE AUG 8th 🚭 💨
Showcasing over 25 artists from the Hi and Low Desert, ‘Cigarettes and Unprocessed Trauma’ explores personal triggers through satire and whimsy. From oversized sculptures, a variety of mediums and styles to photo ops perfect for Instagram, this show is sure to bring back nostalgic memories of childhood, a time when ashtrays were more prevalent than cell phones.

THE COWGIRL KILLERS ARE UP (and so are we chat)

I dumped some cigarettes on the floor of the Palos Verdes Art Center ‘What’s Trending’ show but made up for it with the great outfit. also shout outs to the curator for letting me mess them up a bit before I left. i really have an eye for dumped ash trays.

these are just 40 of the (planned) 100 cigarettes i want to make for my thesis show that’s coming up next year. thoughts and prayers for my joints. i’ve found some good hand stretches on tiktok so hopefully i can still grasp things in a year.

🚬 CIGS 🚬

A collection of cigarette sculptures exploring nostalgia, rebellion, aesthetics, and the strange way culture seems to move in circles.

We're certainly not promoting smoking, but it's hard not to notice that cigarettes have found their way back into the visual landscape. From fashion editorials and films to social media and pop culture, something once pushed to the margins suddenly feels... familiar again.

Maybe it's nostalgia. Maybe it's rebellion. Maybe it's proof that trends never really disappear—they just wait for their next revival.

With CIGS, these everyday objects are removed from their original purpose and transformed into something to be examined, collected, rather than consumed. A reminder that what we find beautiful, taboo, desirable, or dangerous is often shaped by the moment we're living in.

Funny how we've come full circle. On display now for the Euphoria Exhibition or view online at CovetArtGallery.com - Link in bio

The Cowgirl Killers are making their ✨official✨ art world debut this saturday @pvartcenter opening is from 6-9 come by and see them and some amazing work by my fellow students (yes i’m biased towards my friends work)

i’ve been trying to get into this exhibition since my first year at UCR. this being what FINALLY got me in feels so cathartic. crocheting a crazy amount of large scale ciggy plushies is kind of unhinged but i really stuck it out and i can’t wait to see them in a gallery space.

Three years ago I set to achieve something I swore I never wanted, but somewhere along the way I realized I needed. Not just because of societal expectations, but because I felt something was missing and I had this desire to push both my professional and personal development. After an encouraging message from a ghost and the full support from my wonderful wife @ag_nunez , those three years are but a blink of a memory now. After enduring intense commuting, sleepless nights, and easily 60+ lbs of gained weight, I get to wear the wizard garb and fancy hat to celebrate my academic survival and earning of the MFA title.

I’m blessed for the many experiences and relationships that have come from this. Much love to my amazing cohort: Loren Malul @lulusearth , Alexander Valdez Jr @gallo_flacko , Mya Correa @myalcorrea , and Matthew Dickerson @radimvice . A group of artists full of talent and selfless respect for their communities. If rumors are true… we’ve left our marks throughout the @artdesign_csusb department.

Big thank you to @csusbgradart for the opportunity and experience teaching my first University course: Creative Technology for Artists.

I owe so much to the mentorship of those who directed me to @csusb and those who guided me throughout: @mario_ybarra_jr , @fredbrash74 , @edgomezdotcom , @frostingforbreakfast , @steveking_arch_imaging , @timmyrings , @francis_almendarez , and @andrew_k_thompson .

Shoutout to @gggggggggggio for photographing the solo shoot. Especially the imperative bathroom shot.

A day in LA. Finally got to see the new @lacma building since it’s remodel. Saw some good work before making my way up the hill to see the @dodgers play. I’m gonna need some ibuprofen to help me sleep tonight.

Last month 3rd year MFA Student Mya Correa @myalcorrea presented her thesis show ‘Nasty’

Running from April 9th to the 16th 2026 Correa’s work explored the struggles of womanhood through her sculptural forms, found objects and DIY approach. Presented at @raffmacsusb this show created an environment for viewers to contemplate the role of female rage within our society. Congratulations to Mya on a great show!
