So stoked on this one! When @rational.angler stepped into this run on the upper Pitt River I knew right away the light was perfect, he just needed to make right cast and I couldn’t mess the shot up! All of my fly fishing images come from real life in the moment opportunities, nothing ever set up only images caught during a quick moment in time during actual fishing situations! I have been submitting photos and being published regularly for over a decade, with over 20 images used on covers of leading fly fishing publications, however never for a @flyfusionmag cover until now! I got to spend some time fishing this fun combo this past weekend on the Deschutes. I wanted a new (to me) summer steelhead setup and this is currently doing it for me!

I’m a big fan of fiberglass rods and especially love two-handed fiberglass rods. I love feeling the rod load deep into the cork and how casting glass really forces you slow down. I wish more companies made fiberglass two-handers but I also know why more don’t. It’s quite niche.

This old Dingley got fitted with a new @bridge_116.2 Tributary line that I picked up at @myflyshop when I was up in Vancouver last month. Paired with this older @echoflyfishing 6124, this thing is just too much fun. I was able to raise a steelhead with this riffle hitched muddler, but couldn’t get it to commit. Fun was had and memories were made!

Steelhead the fish that captivates many and confuses most, that is considered the most fragile in the world 🌎 do to politics and gill nets. Hard to believe you could get a ticket for a fishing violation faster than you could dealing drugs or smoking crack on the street ! Would you rather give your child an I phone 📱 or a fishing 🎣 rod ?
