To add to how down to earth my friend @sahara_ray was, years ago I was blessed with an opportunity to work with @myintent thanks again to my friend @xander_pappas linking me with now friend and "My Intent" founder @chrispan ! "My Intent" joined me, @jeremyolenski and Sahara on a visit with a child who was terminal (little Ruben), but also facilitated a speaking opportunity at a school at a later time in Compton California where I was able to talk to the youth there about life, dreams, goals, setting intentions of success and putting that into the world (as you can hear some of that in this video).

It was a great day, but what I'll always remember most was Sahara joining us to the school simply in support of me speaking. She totally didn't have to do that, but she did. Before going up to speak, she was even hyping me up telling me not to be nervous and telling me I'd do great. She's not in this video but was standing next to Alexander against the back wall rooting me on. From the gate, she presented herself as an ally and didn't just talk the talk, she actually backed it up (and that still means a lot to me to this day). We all wore "My Intent" bracelets that displayed the word "Light" on them and thats exactly what she was. I've felt heavy today knowing her light has moved on from this world, but we're gonna keep this going for her! Keep shining from heaven my friend! 🕊🙏🏼❤️

One habit I’ve formed in my own practice of obedience is journaling. Some days, the path of obedience is clear: Forgive her. Confess this sin. But when I find myself on the verge of a decision that doesn’t seem to have a clear direction given in Scripture, I write about it to seek the Lord’s will. You could call it a glorified pros-and-cons list. But there’s something powerful about the process of naming things, of getting them outside the confines of your head, that God uses to bring clarity and conviction.

First, I pray over whatever I’ve written and then call up one to two people whose counsel has proven trustworthy. This might be a lifelong friend or mentor, maybe a leader in my church community. Whoever it is, they know me and live their own lives open-heartedly before the Lord. Then I seek to hold it before the Lord, discerning in His wisdom what should come next. Every now and then, the situation kicks me in the pants and requires me to act before I know for certain where God is leading. The good news? When our heart is to obey, He’s faithful to redirect our steps if needed. [from @shereadstruth ] but could’ve written it myself…

If you follow me, you already know how much I believe in the power of reinvention.

So it probably won’t surprise you that my word for this year is REINVENT.

That’s also why I love MyIntent so much.

Yes, I love their products.
But I also love what they stand for.

Choose a word that means something to you. Wear it. See it. Let it remind you of the intention you’re bringing into your life.

That feels so connected to the work I do and the message I’ve spent years sharing with women:

You can change. You can grow. You can choose again. You can decide the life you’re living doesn’t fit anymore and create one that does.

For me, REINVENT isn’t just a word.

It’s personal.

I’ve had to do it more than once in my own life-most recently when I had to learn how to walk again.

And I have a feeling I’m not done yet.

My Intent is to REINVENT.

Reorienting. That was my word in 2025.

Not the cute version of reorienting.

Not the “new planner, new habits” version.
But the deep spiritual reorientation that happens when life knocks you off your axis and God gently turns you back toward true north.

That’s EXACTLY what happened to me. Yesterday I had a panic attack. I don’t know what triggered it but suddenly my face went numb, my heart started racing and I felt like I was gonna faint. After that blood clot near death experience in 2025 I thought I was certainly about to have another one and this time it might take me out.

The last six months have felt like one long exhale. One muscle at a time relaxing. One tendon at a time releasing itself out of hyper vigilance and fight of flight.

The scars on my knee remind me of God’s grace and strength to restore my mobility and how far I’ve come.

The scars on my hip where they laparoscopically removed a massive amount of blood clots from my lungs and saved me from a heart attack reminds me of God’s mercy.

The scar on my right calf where I cut myself shaving and because I was on blood thinner left a nasty bruise that won’t seem to go away reminds me that I was literally a woman with an issue of blood and He healed me.

The scar tissue removed from my soul reminds me of the missional wounds that God makes visible and qualifies me as a tried, trusted, tested and approved vessel who Carrie’s the ministry of reconciliation to a hurting world.

“So, brothers and sisters, because of God’s mercies, I encourage you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. This is your appropriate priestly service. Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature.

Love should be shown without pretending. Hate evil, and hold on to what is good.

Don’t hesitate to be enthusiastic—be on fire in the Spirit as you serve the Lord! Be happy in your hope, stand your ground when you’re in trouble, and devote yourselves to prayer.”
