🇨🇭 memories pt 2 ~ my favorite colorful building at the EPFL area also designed by DPA @dominiqueperrault architects and completed in 2013.

Such a fun trip I made in 2018 for @myswitzerland 😎 For 1 week I was their guest and visited many beautiful cities, their contemporary architecture and of course the stunning nature 🗻⛰.

🇨🇭 memories ~ finding stunning atriums on the EPFL area in Lousanne.

This place is know as the mechanics building and designed by @dominiqueperrault and most of you have seen shots of the hinged facade.

This is the atrium where the architects had this to say:

"Straight stairways and flared corridors flow diagonally from one level to the next and from one side to another, filling the central void with a blur of lines. Handrails and tubular wall-mounted lamps, accented in black, add to an overall graphic effect inspired by Piranese’s Capricci. Superimposed planes and criss-crossing lines create a dynamic tridimensional picture, which is deconstructed and reconstructed by each visitor passing through it. This plan turns the atrium into a fantastic spatial experience, while reinforcing its social function, by favoring chance encounters without impeding circulation."
