softball. where do i even start? softball gave me some of the best memories, toughest life lessons, and strongest friendships i’ll ever have. from long practices to unforgettable wins and heartbreaking losses, every moment shaped who i am today. it’s emotional knowing this chapter is coming to an end, but i’ll always be grateful for every inning, every teammate, and every second spent on that field. first, thank you to any coach who has shaped me into the athlete and person i am today. thank you to my teammates who i now call my sisters. our team chemistry, our memories, wins, losses, inside jokes, and sharing the love for this game is something i’ll cherish for life. ending my softball career with the title of district champions with my best friends means everything to me and i’m so proud of what we accomplished together. this season was one of the best and yet the heaviest of them all. at the beginning of the year i lost my grandpa potts, my biggest supporter, and it changed the way i experienced everything. i still find myself looking into the stands wishing i could see him there, or checking my phone to see a pregame text, but instead i notice the little reminders that he’s still with me. he passed down his generational love for this sport to me, and i hope i made you proud as promised, potts🦋 id also like to take a moment to dedicate my athletic career to my family, and especially to my mom. having my mom beside me as my coach made it even more special. she’s been there for every high and low. not just as a coach teaching me the game, but as my teacher, and mom guiding me through life at the same time. she’s believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, pushed me when I needed it, and has never let me settle for less than my best and i’m forever grateful. to me, softball was my whole life, and wearing the number 5 was more than a jersey. i’ve been number 5 since day one, and it holds my story, my family, my growth, and everything it took to be the athlete i ended my softball career as. i’ll cherish softball for the rest of my life. thank you big walnut softball, gmelly5 out✌️🦅❤️#nobodycancrackthenut #carexplosion
