עֵץ חַיִּים הִיא לַמַּחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ וְתֹמְכֶיהָ מְאֻשָּׁר׃
“She is a tree of life to those who hold on to her, and happy are those who support her.”
Mishlei 3:18

In life, there are so many ups and downs. So many situations we face. And there is nothing we go through that doesn’t have its root in the Torah.

The Torah gives light for everything we face. Practical guidance from those who know more and have experienced more than us. Deeper truths that remind us of the oneness of Hashem. Guidelines that keep us from falling too far. Advice from generations of sages and tzadikim.

If we just hold on, whether we’re ascending or descending, spiritually or in our physical lives, we always have something to lean on. Something to bring us back into alignment.

And what a beautiful thing it is to have so much access to Torah. So much depth. So many different flavors, tastes, shades, and colors. Teachings from across the world, in almost any language we could want. We are so blessed in this generation.

Rebbe Nachman warned that a time of great heresy and confusion would come. He explained that knowing he had spoken about it beforehand would itself give people strength to hold on to their emunah. (Sichot HaRan 35)

Sometimes just knowing that helps. Knowing that this world is crazy, that there’s a flood out there, and that we were told about it. And we have something to hold on to that came before this flood, before us, before the world itself.

The Torah. The blueprint of this whole world. Our playbook for navigating everything we face. A gift from Hashem to His beautiful nation, Am Yisrael.

We should cherish this Torah. Hold on to it. Sing and dance with it. Learn it and cry with it and yearn with it. Connect with it and live by it.

And through it, bring more mercy and more unity into the world.

The 🇬🇧UK’s Green Party❎ has recycled an old anti-Jewish tagline equating Zionism with racism, riding on the struggles of minorities who face genuine racism, manipulating pain and society’s “appetite” for justice, and entrapping the public into hating Jews and opposing Jewish rights.

Not only does Zionism have nothing to do with “race,” but it is the world’s most successful indigenous liberation movement, and a model of light and success for minorities and indigenous peoples worldwide.

ZIONism comes from ZION (another word for JERUSALEM) and only means the right of the Jewish People to self-determine on their ancestral Homeland. Thus, to be against Zionism is to be against the Jewish People’s right to live where they are from, which is a form of antisemitism. Just as being against Black rights is racist, being against women’s rights is misogynistic, or being against Native Nations’ access to their lands is anti-Native, being against Jewish liberation is today’s trendy output for Jew hatred.

The West’s far-left feels so guilty of their crimes of apartheid, genocide, ethnic cleansing, settlements, colonization, and racism, that rather than looking in the mirror at what their own nations have done, they push their white guilt onto the Jewish People and blame them for what they are actually guilty of.

The Jewish People have come Home, decolonized their tongues bringing back their native language, reinstated their culture, and freed themselves from foreign colonial British rule reclaiming sovereignty on their land. 1948 was the experience many performative activists chant to see.

The West’s far-left conclusion is identical to the far-right’s. The far-right is at least honest about its hatred toward minorities and indigenous groups, whereas the far-left will only “support” them when they are weak or victims, but the moment they become strong, come Home, and narrate their own future, they are suddenly a threat to be rejected at all costs.

Jews in foreign lands with the initials UK: stand up and narrate your story. Fight back and win the cultural war or leave now and come Home to Israel.

Zionism is Decolonization, and the Hashem’s revolution has already begun.

Crypto Jews, Belmonte Portugal 🇵🇹🕍 700+ years of Jewish survival.

By 1297, a Sepharadi Jewish community had been established here, but by 1496 everything changed. The King of Portugal decreed that Jews could no longer exist!

They either had to convert, leave, or face extermination.

Many families in Belmonte took their Judaism underground, preserving their identity, prayers, and traditions in secret for generations. On the outside, no one knew they were Jewish, but in private, they taught their children and made sure they would carry on the eternal flame of their secret identity.

Much of their traditions were preserved orally, especially through the women of the community, long after contact with the wider Jewish world had disappeared. In fact, most believed they were some of the last Jews to survive.

In the 20th century, the Crypto Jews of Belmonte began openly reconnecting with the larger Jewish community through the rediscovery when an Ashkenazi Jewish man visited the community and had heard there were a stubborn strange people who refused to mix with others. He asked if they were Yehudim and they denied any connection, until he said the Shema Israel, where they melted into tears and couldn’t believe to have finally reconnected with Am Israel.

Today, Belmonte once again has a synagogue, a Jewish museum, and a living Jewish community descendants of people who refused to let their identity disappear.

After centuries in the shadows, the Jews of Belmonte can once again live openly in the light.

There are many communities like this scattered across Spain, Portugal, the Caribbean, and Latin America. @wewereneverlost will work to rebuild those bridges with the dispersed of Israel.

Hebrew Birthday 33 🧿✨Today is the 20th of Elul, marking my 33rd year of life. (Wrapped in Baba Sali’s actual Sudra)👳🏽‍♂️

In today’s modern culture people send “happy wishes” for those with birthdays, but in Hebrew culture it is the person with the birthday who is elevated with the ability to give blessings to others.

Since today is my day, may we all individually & collectively remember who we are along with the purpose we chose to come back to this physical experience, and may we recognize and pass all tests coming our way. May the Jewish People realize the key to our success depends on our unity, not uniformity, and may we tap into our mission and fullest potential.

Many people ask me why I celebrate my Hebrew birthday rather than Sep 6th, my solar birthday, and the one the world mainly uses.

Well, I come from an ancient People who’ve used their own calendar for thousands of years. Rosh Hashana, Kippur, Hannukah, and all Jewish holidays are celebrated on the Hebrew calendar which is not based on the birth/death/life of a Jewish man used for idolatry. It may be triggering but it’s Emet.

I use the Gregorian calendar daily when dealing with the world, but my birthday is not for others, as I choose to celebrate the date I was born according to my native culture, heritage, and identity.

My Parasha is a double portion: Nitzavim-Vayelech.

‘Nitzavim’ means ‘standing firmly’ on one’s values, principles, and convictions in order to grow in life.

It is also centered on the unity of Israel: “You stand today, all of you, before the L‑rd your G‑d: your heads, your tribes, your elders, your officers, and every Israelite.”

It continues with the promise of scattered Jews returning to the Land of Israel.

‘Vayelech’ means “and he went” recounting Moses’ last day of earthly life. “I am 120 years old today,” he says to the People as he transfers leadership to Joshua and entrusts the Levites to safekeep the Torah and Ark of the Covenant.

As a Levite, my life missions are clearly connected.

I ask on thing of everyone: Type “Hebrew Brithday Calculator” online to find your Hebrew birthday and mark it on your calendar for your next yearly celebration. 🕍
