When my grandfather Morris settled in Toronto’s Kensington Market, he opened a hardware store. My grandmother Anne became a hairdresser. They worked hard and made sure my father got the education they never had. Today at the Sunset Indo-Canadian Seniors Society, I met people who know that story because they lived it. Families who came to Canada, built something from nothing, and put their children first. My dad was my mentor and my hero. He passed away too young, at 60, but he left me with a message I shared with them today: WORK HARD. BE KIND. That’s what I’ll bring to the Legislature as the MLA for Vancouver-Langara. On October 24, vote Jaime Stein and the BC Conservatives.

THANK YOU, VANCOUVER. ❤️ My heart is so full after Kudiyaan Shehar Diyaan 2026. What started as a vision became a celebration of strong women, strong community, and stronger futures because of every single person who showed up. A huge THANK YOU to all of our incredible vendors, sponsors, community partners, volunteers, performers, and attendees for making this event so special. One question we asked throughout the event was: “Why is it important for women to step up in business and become financially independent?” The answers were powerful. ✨ Financial independence gives women the confidence to make choices for themselves and their families. ✨ Women in business create opportunities, inspire the next generation, and strengthen entire communities. ✨ When one woman rises, she helps others rise with her. This is exactly why we created Kudiyaan Shehar Diyaan — to celebrate women who lead, build businesses, support one another, and create lasting impact. A special thank you to our amazing organizers Preeti Faridkot and Jas Virdi for bringing this vision to life, and to every vendor and sponsor who believed in this movement. This is only the beginning. 💜 Tag a woman entrepreneur, vendor, or sponsor who inspired you at the event and let them know how much they’re appreciated. — Taroop Faridkot | The Financial Educator #KudiyaanSheharDiyaan #WomenInBusiness #WomenEmpoweringWomen #FinancialIndependence #VancouverEvents

🎬 Project Uplift Outdoor Movie Night was a huge success! In partnership with the Sunset Community Centre, the City of Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, and the South Vancouver Community Policing Centre, we had the opportunity to bring the community together for an evening of live performances, an outdoor movie, and plenty of positive vibes! With 50+ attendees, it was amazing to see neighbours come together, connect, and enjoy a night filled with laughter and community spirit. A huge thank you to the Sunset Community Centre Association Board of Directors and Community Idol Pall Beesla for sponsoring the event and helping make it possible. We’d also like to thank the ICBC Road Safety Unit for engaging attendees with a fun and informative safe-driving trivia session! 🚗 We loved seeing the community come together and can’t wait to host more outdoor movie nights in the future. 🎥 Stay tuned for what’s next! 📸 @jakem.productions

Great conversations last night at Sunset Community Centre with small-scale homebuilders. The ABC majority on council has advanced a series of policy changes to speed up permitting, reduce DCLs and cut city costs overall for small-scale homebuilders, as well as larger developers, allowing them to deliver more affordable homes for Vancouverites—faster. I look forward to continuing this work and these conversations in the Fall. #vancouver #vanpoli #construction
