New donation points for local charity’s Christmas appeal

Residents supporting the Christmas appeal of Bromley Brighter Beginnings can now use new donation points at various leisure centres or at Bromley Civic Centre, as the Mayor of Bromley joins in donating.

Donations of children’s new pyjamas, pre-loved Christmas jumpers and new unused gifts are being welcomed at collection points to support the local charity’s Christmas for Every Child campaign. Bespoke hampers of age-appropriate gifts are distributed by the volunteer-run charity to local families in challenging circumstances, with more than 700 children and their families supported in 2025.

Donations are being welcomed until Friday 6 November at the new collection points in the receptions of The Spa at Beckenham, The Pavilion, The Walnuts and Crofton Halls leisure centres, and at Bromley Civic Centre, as well as the further sites already available across the borough. Residents and businesses can also support Bromley Brighter Beginnings’ Christmas appeal by making a financial contribution or buying an item to donate via their online Christmas shop.

This latest appeal follows Bromley Brighter Beginnings being awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest national award for voluntary groups.

It's #NationalFitnessDay today and I'm away on some rest and recovery in 🇪🇸

So let's talk about how I ended up as an exercise specialist @thespabeckenham

I started my fitness journey alongside my dancing career. At stage school in 2005-2007 we had to chose a 'option' subject and I chose my level 2 gym instruction.

I immediately became a Sunday girl for @better_uk Woolwich waterfront gym, but had to give that up as I auditioned and got a place as a contestant on @bbc one #DanceFever show, hosted by @thegrahamnortonshowofficial - alongside my wonderful dance partner Ben we came 3rd out of 80,000 hopefuls. This launched my dance career and my fitness, was put to one side (for now)

Between 2007 when I graduated with a level 3 Arts Development and Teaching diploma from @rpa_college and 2010 I had a wonderful career - performing globally for artists, music videos, stage tours, tv appearances. But that all came to a halt when I had some health issues I had to figure out - this meant I wasn't allowed to dance or exercise so had to get a 'normal' job for a while..

In 2013 I was given the Clarence to be able to exercise safely again, and dance.

I got a job as membership advisor for La Fitness and was quickly promoted to 'Head of Fitness' and was in charge of the success of the group exercise and fitness suits for 3 central London.
I stayed at LA Fitness and did my level 3 PT there as an apprentice. I also did my level 2 ETM.

BUT I wanted a new challenge and was appointed 'Fitness Manager' for West Wickham Leisure Centre.

I did this for 4 wonderful years, leading the centre through a gym redevelopment and building the GEX timetable up from 30 classes a week to 72 a week.

I resigned from my post in 2019 as I wanted to focus more on teaching. I did my level 3 exercise on referral with @mytimeactive where I remain today as part of the Health Team.

I am now a level 4 cardic rehab specialist, diabetes and obesity specialist, pro trainer for @sosadancefit, Zumba, level 4 Strength & Conditioning Coach, advanced stretch coach.... plus many more!

I study hard to to be best I can be for those who I help! ❤️ I still dance and get gigs... sometimes!
