The work is the work….

I’m hard on myself. Sometimes so hard that I turn a round of BP meant for learning into a judgment of how good I am.

Looking back, my perspective needed an adjustment. I was expecting consistency while working through change. Growth isn’t linear.

Here, I’m searching for the feel of my A swing—being on time consistently and comfortably. When I say I’m “fighting,” it feels like I’m asking my body to move one way while it wants to do something different.

I’ve seen myself in games heat up and cool down. One of my biggest goals this season was stringing together quality at-bats… not just physically but also mentally. This is part of that work: finding a feel I can return to and trust.

I’m grateful for my manager, Ray “Sensei” Ortega, who spent multiple years at the Triple-A level in the Giants organization, for helping me work through this process.

I’m learning that holding myself accountable and giving myself patience can coexist. If you’re in the lab figuring yours out, I hope you give yourself room to do both.

I want to be more transparent about the work behind the scenes. Something @dave_matthews said in conversation inspired me to share more of this process.

Have you ever had to really lab your swing? Like really get in there and figure it out?

@rortega99 and I are talking through center of mass, direction, staying inside the ball, and being on time—connecting what I feel with what’s actually happening.

This is MY swing, MY tendencies, and what I needed that day. What clicks for me might feel completely different for you.

I’ve had days where working on my game made me question how good I was. That’s another part of the process I want to share, the questions, adjustments, and swings between breakthroughs.

If you’re in the lab figuring yours out, be patient with yourself. You don’t need every answer to keep getting better… you just gotta keep showing up.

Words can’t describe how crazy this season was… let alone what it took to get here.

Being cut from varsity as a junior in high school. A coach telling me he saw zero playing time in my future. Finding my way to Division III baseball with no real direction in recruiting, no network, and little support.

Stepping away from the game entirely for a year and a half….. and signing in the pioneer league to be released in spring training

To the fan in Omaha this year who handed me a “get out of jail free” card and told me I might need it later in life.

To fighting the battles with depression, anxiety, and things a highlight reel could never show.

I don’t know 💩 about being the favorite. I know what it means to be a “try-hard.” To try, fail, and keep trying when nobody gives you a reason to believe it’ll work.

This is God….This is effort. This is a burning desire to chase something I couldn’t see, but could feel so deeply I couldn’t leave it alone.

Talent matters as much as the heart does to keep showing up when talent alone isn’t enough.

Whoever you are….wherever you are… don’t give up. There were years I prayed for what I got to live this season. 🩵⚾️

Weather was not perfect but we made it work. Cloud covers ended up giving us sick lighting and the content came out fire. Got a few weeks of editing with the @wegrowthrive team but this round will be absolutely insane 🔥
