UT100 Elite Announcement: Antonina Iushina Antonina knows what it takes to stand on the UT100 podium. She’s finished 2nd on Table Mountain twice, in 2024 and 2025. 🥈 Now she’s back… and is third time the charm for the #1 spot? 👀 This year she led the UTAMiler in Australia from start to finish and took more than two hours off the course best! She also won the BEAST Ultra 100M in the UAE and finished 8th woman at UTMB. Before her superstar trail running career, Antonina was a school teacher, and she had a vegetable garden where she grew her own veggies. Today she’s also a running coach, bringing her own incredible experience and superb knowledge to the athletes she trains. UT100 Elite Announcement: Ryan “Sandman” Sandes 🇿🇦 Does Ryan even need an introduction around here? He is an absolute legend in the South African trail running community. He took South Africa to the world stage and showed us that we can dominate. He became the first person ever to win every race in the 4 Deserts series back in 2010 (Atacama, Gobi, Sahara and Antarctica). He has also won Leadville (2011), Transgrancanaria (2014) and Western States (2017). 🏆 Not to mention all the FKTs he has to his name, like the Drakensberg Grand Traverse and the Great Himalaya Trail. And just last year he finished 2nd at the 250-mile Cocodona. There is no stopping the Sandman! We can go on forever and ever listing all of Ryan’s accomplishments, but what we actually want to say is that we’re so stoked to have Ryan on the start line at this year’s UT100. Creating my potential pacing and nutrition plans for @utct at @mountco.co.za earlier today during my work lunch break… Those who know me well know that I try to consume as little meat as possible. I’m not vegan, but I do consume very very little meat and/or dairy. I personally choose to do it for environmental sustainability. Raising cows, sheep, or other cattle puts huge demand on the environment, not to mention pollution from the processes involved. For that reason I’m interested in @naakbars_za bars that use cricket powder. Not only a superfood, but cricket farming requires 13x less land, 12x less feed, and 100x less greenhouse gasses compared to beef farming for example 👏 I personally see crickets as a realistic bridge to getting the masses over to a more sustainable food story for the Earth’s massive human population. This weekend, it’s the final route recce! 🏁 The course is the last section for the three ultra RMB UTCT races and it follows the full EX23 route. It runs from the suburban green belts through lush forest trails, round back to the technical town-side trails. 🛑 Alphen Trail 🏁 Gardens Rugby Club ⚪ 22.2km 📈 950m D+ 🗓️ 24 October 2026 ⌚ 07h00 Space is limited and places move quickly, so sign up sooner rather than later! Somewhere around the middle of a long day, when your legs are heavy and your head is filled with doubt, you turn a corner and hear it. A cowbell. A cheer. Then a smile of encouragement! There are the kids with their hands out for a high five, who have no idea how much that tiny slap just carried you up the next climb. The supporters in dress-up and home-made signs who cheer you into the next aid station. Every runner crosses the finish line on their own two feet, but nobody gets there alone. UT100 Elite Announcement: Rebecca Kohne 🇿🇦 Last year Rebecca lined up for her very first ultra, RMB UTCT’s PT55, hoping for a top five… But after a near flawless race, she crossed the finish line in first place, winning her debut ultra marathon! This year she’s back for her 100km debut in the UT100, so will history repeat itself? 👀 Rebecca is a real local legend. She took the Six Peaks record in her hometown of George as a young athlete at just 19 years old, and has won many prestigious races in South Africa since. In 2023 she made her first international winning race mark, winning Istria’s by UTMB’s 21km in Croatia. More recently in 2025, she placed third at HOKA Val d’Aran by UTMB®️ 2025 cementing her aspirations to race at a top level. UT100 Elite Announcement: Hannes Namberger 🇩🇪 Hannes Namberger is officially on the UT100 elite start list for RMB UTCT 2026. The king of Lavaredo Ultra Trail (4 wins and counting, including a course record this year) is coming back to Cape Town. He’s also a past UT100 champion, sharing the 2022 title with Dmitry Mityaev, so we have no doubt this race is going to keep us on the edge of our seats. 👀 When Hannes isn’t running, he is a proud dad or indulging in a McDonald’s burger and beers.
