Founded by artistic director Mohamed Sqalli and photographer Ilyes Griyeb, the NAAR collective was created to promote artists struggling to make their voices heard globally and to push contemporary Arab and Mediterranean music to an international stage. NAAR achieved major success with their 2019 project album, Safar (meaning "journey" or "travel" in Arabic), which fused American trap beats with traditional
Moroccan sounds.

From Lagos to Kampala, Accra to Casablanca, these are the collectives quietly pushing african music forward, one project at a time. 🔥

Which of them are you tapped into?

🎶✨I think I found my higher calling!! ✨🎶

I’m so glad me and @alex.guy.olon recorded ourselves free styling on the decks during our Snow Day!!

Seeing us have this much fun and getting positive feedback from so many friends that watched the full set on YouTube gives me even more reason to keep practicing.

There’s still SO much to learn! But right now, it’s just about having fun and raising the vibrations. 🙌

If there’s something you’ve been feeling called to try, to create, to share… I hope you follow that curiosity!

Do the things that bring you joy, because the world needs more joy!!! 🫶

Songs: “Searching” by Kelland and Sam Silver + “Another Hit” by NAAR and Parker Page

Voici mon Safar.
