I can’t say enough about the incredible, talented, humble, loving songwriters that filled Song City’s INK26 Songwriting Retreat this year. I encourage you to seek them out, hear their stories, and listen to songs that came out of our time together. And then come to their showcase on December 10, and hear it for yourself.

While the INK retreat is a songwriting retreat for local artists in the 518 area, for me getting to travel up to Silver Bay and simply focus on cooking great food for amazing people for 3 1/2 days straight; wearing just one hat instead of my usual four; is genuinely a working vacation.

The kitchen is in the main room of the cabin, and to me it feels like a beehive… I’m doing my thing making food and I just get to watch these people come and go, sound lyrics off of one another, or teach each other new guitar chords, sit down and toss an idea out and begin to collaborate on a song together. It’s so vibrant and peaceful and exciting all at once.

This carefully cultivated environment, by @scottwomer , with so much intention and consideration toward giving artists a place to focus solely on their craft and have all of their immediate needs met is truly a wonderful thing to be behold and be part of planning and executing. Truly a highlight of my year.

We are SO excited to introduce you to the 10 amazing songwriters that have been chosen for the INK26 Songwriting Retreat! We want to express our appreciation to all the writers that applied, and our selection team, that poured over all the applications, recordings, and lyrics, taking into account not only each artist’s songwriting, but also seeking to find the best group chemistry, which is incredibly important on a retreat like this.

Congratulations to Naava Wilson, Lily Lothrop, Emily Pinkerton, Elizabeth Conant, Arbor Mae, Josh Robin, Dave Womer, Matthew Klane, Mark Shipley, and Lucio Barbarino!
