🔥 BHASTRIKA PRANAYAMA
Ignite your inner fire:
Bhastrika is a dynamic pranayama traditionally practised to energise the body, awaken prana, generate inner heat and sharpen mental alertness. It can be a powerful practice when you feel sluggish, dull or in need of a little more vitality.

How to practise:
🧘 Sit tall and extend your arms straight forward, palms open.
🔥 Inhale: pull your fists back towards your shoulders, bending the elbows with intention.
🌬️ Exhale: extend your arms forward again, opening the hands.
Continue with a steady rhythm, allowing the movement of the arms to follow the rhythm of your breath. Start with 10 to 15 rounds, then return to a natural breath and pause to notice how you feel.

A few things to remember:
Bhastrika is stimulating, so practise gently and build gradually. Stop if you feel dizzy, lightheaded or uncomfortable.
Avoid vigorous Bhastrika if you are pregnant or have uncontrolled high blood pressure, significant heart or respiratory conditions, or other conditions where forceful breathing is not recommended. If you are unsure, check with a qualified healthcare professional before practising.

✨ The aim isn't to breathe as hard as possible. It's to breathe with awareness, rhythm and intention.

Years before I made my way to Cambodia and before I knew anything about it, I felt a very strong pull towards it. From the first time I saw footage of Angkor Thom, I was mesmerized. Every once in a while, I’d check flight tickets, I searched for Cambodia-based YTTs, and I even messaged a stranger on Facebook asking her how she moved there. I never thought I’d actually end up living there myself, nor did I plan for it, until Siem Reap summoned me in August 2024, right after my 28th birthday.

In 2025, Cambodia went through its own horrific war with a neighboring country, and I had to watch both my homeland AND my new home getting attacked. Suddenly, everyone around me was going through it too. I wished I could express myself better in Khmer to let them know in their own language that I felt their pain so deeply. It was all surreal. (More on this in another post)

After 2 failed attempts at visiting Lebanon, I’ve finally made it back. 2 years since I moved to Siem Reap, 2 years of learning how to hold space for others… and I still have so, so much to learn. It really wasn’t easy trying to fit 2 years into 20 slides, but I tried — and it took many hours to put together, so this post is going to be a long one, sorry about that. If you read it all the way through, thank you for your time 🦋

What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is a joyful, heart-opening practice of singing simple mantras together in a call-and-response style. You don't need to be a singer or know any Sanskrit—the beauty of Kirtan is that everyone can join in.
The repetition of these sacred sounds helps quiet the mind, open the heart, and create a deep sense of connection with yourself and those around you. It's a form of meditation through music, where the focus isn't on performance, but on presence.
Whether you're curious, experienced, or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend your evening, we'd love to welcome you into this beautiful shared practice.
Come as you are, bring a friend if you'd like, and let's share an evening of music, community, and devotion. 🙏🎶

There are places on this earth where devotion has shaped the land itself. The sacred landscapes surrounding Angkor are among them.
Filmed in the countryside near Angkor, this practice is offered by Shiva of AUM Yoga Center at Angkor Grace, Siem Reap, as a gift to the global yoga community and to ORIGIN.

In this flow, movement arises from stillness. Breath meets earth. The contemplative spirit of Angkor is not simply a backdrop, but a reminder of our deep connection to something greater than ourselves.

This is the heart of what ORIGIN is calling us toward: remembering that when we move, breathe, and gather with intention, we create coherence that extends far beyond the individual.

EARTH • BODY • MIND • SPIRIT

Yoga teachers and studio owners are warmly invited to join this global offering on October 17. Register your event and bring your community into this shared moment of practice and intention.
Register via the link in bio or at lovearth.com.au/origin.

Tag a yoga teacher or studio who would love to be part of this movement. 🌏🧘

There’s something timeless about the connection between movement, mythology, and the sacred temples of Angkor. In this beautiful moment from our interview, Shiva Rea reflects on the spirit of Angkor Wat, the presence of the apsaras, and the living energy woven through Cambodia’s ancient traditions.
We are deeply honored to have welcomed her to Angkor Grace Wellness Resort for a retreat experience that brought together yoga, ritual, music, dance, and embodied practice in one of the world’s most powerful spiritual landscapes.
More than a teacher, Shiva Rea carries a lifelong devotion to the deeper roots of yoga — where movement becomes prayer, creativity becomes meditation, and practice becomes a way of reconnecting to life itself.

Jnana mudra

This simple yet powerful hand gesture connects us to clarity, presence, and inner wisdom. With thumb and index finger gently touching, it symbolizes the union of individual consciousness with universal consciousness.

When one palm faces up and the other down, it creates a beautiful balance between receiving and grounding—inviting energy in while staying deeply rooted.

How to practice:
🪑 Sit comfortably with a tall, relaxed spine.
🤲 Rest your hands on your knees, thumb and index finger touching.
⬆️ Place one palm facing up (receptive), and the other facing down (grounding).
🌬️ Close your eyes and breathe naturally, noticing the balance within.

Why practice it?
✨ Encourages mental clarity and awareness.
🌿 Balances inward reflection with openness to receive.
⚖️ Creates harmony between grounding and expansion.
🧘‍♀️ Supports meditation, focus, and a calm nervous system.
