Even better the second time around.

In one year, I locked down an M.S. in Television Radio and Film. My phrase for the year was Excellence over Perfection, and I delivered by God’s grace.

I wish I could say I never had a doubt during this program, but I did. The truth is, in doing this I proved to myself that I am capable of more than I thought. Hard work alone wasn’t enough; I depended on faith in Jesus and the people around me.

Syracuse was proof that the people make the place. I couldn’t get photos with everyone💔 but there were so many people who were main characters in this chapter. I love the chosen family I added here!

To my own family: I am because you are. Thank you for your constant support.

Can’t believe it’s almost time to say goodbye to Syracuse but I guess I’m now #foreverorange Thank you TRF Sequence 78🧡💙 It was a movie 🎬

I’m immensely grateful for a mother like you, who continues to inspire me just by living life. It’s not just that you did it… it’s WHY and HOW... Your village is large because of you you are. This awesome accomplishment will be with you forever! Welcome to the 4%, Dr. Momma! ❤️

“Your work matters when you decide it matters…” - Rubén Polendo

How do I sum up the last 6 years? (Yes, I’m including postgrad years). From the moment I first set foot on NYU’s campus to audition, to the very moments of this week that made me feel like I’m in the right place with the right people, and all the STUFF in between… I can honestly say God has shown me favor in my village and in the privilege I’ve had to “Follow my dreams.” I mean, I auditioned for NYU with a monologue from a James Baldwin play and we just happened to eat at a restaurant with his face in it the afternoon of graduation. Talk about full circle. This has been TWO YEARS in the works, and it was the closure I needed. I don’t take it for granted in this global health crisis. I’m immensely grateful for those backing me, without whom I couldn’t have done this (I couldn’t post all my family/friends/circles at NYU over the years but know you’re loved and appreciated!).

Ward Kamel: “How do you know you’re on track?” Me: “Just keep walking, and your relationships and growth will be the evidence.” Off I go. Once again. 💜🧑🏾‍🎓
