🎉 Happy Birthday, Frida Kahlo! 🌹🎨

Today we celebrate one of the most iconic artists in history. Here are a few fascinating facts about Frida Kahlo that made her story just as unforgettable as her paintings:

🌹 She changed her birth year.
Although Frida was born on July 6, 1907, she claimed to have been born in 1910 so her life would symbolically begin with the Mexican Revolution.

🩺 She dreamed of becoming a doctor.
Before art became her passion, Frida planned to study medicine.

🖌️ She began painting from her bed.
After a devastating bus accident, she spent months confined to bed. Her parents gave her a custom easel and installed a mirror above her, inspiring her famous self-portraits. Frida once said:
“I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best.”

💔 Her greatest heartbreak came from within her family.
Her husband, Diego Rivera, had a long-term affair with Frida’s sister, Cristina—one of the most painful betrayals of her life.

🖼️ She painted 55 self-portraits.
Each one reflected her emotions, physical pain, resilience, and identity.

🚑 She attended her first major solo exhibition in an ambulance.
In 1953, despite being bedridden, Frida refused to miss her exhibition in Mexico City. She arrived by ambulance, was carried into the gallery in her four-poster bed, and celebrated the evening with her guests.

💵 She appears on Mexican currency.
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera are featured on Mexico’s 500-peso banknote, honoring their lasting cultural legacy.

Frida transformed pain into beauty and inspired generations to embrace authenticity, resilience, and fearless self-expression. Her legacy continues to remind us that art has the power to heal, inspire, and change the world.

🌹 Happy Birthday, Frida!
