I turned 30 last year.

It didn’t look the way I thought it would.

There were doctor’s appointments and waiting rooms and moments I still don’t have language for. A pregnancy I was so excited about, and then the loss of it. There were disappointments that didn’t resolve cleanly. Big questions about work. About the world. About what’s coming next. At one point, a kidney stone, just to really round things out! 😉

But there were other things too.

Plane windows at sunrise. Maryland. New York, twice. New Jersey. Mexico.

A table full of people in my house for Thanksgiving, realizing we’re the ones hosting now.

Summer nights in the backyard, standing around the grill. Drinks with friends. Little pockets of joy that didn’t announce themselves as important at the time (but wow, were they!).

Work I’m proud of. Modeling for Planned Parenthood. Finding my footing again, and then more than that—feeling, for the first time, really sure of myself inside my own life.

30 wasn’t easy. But it was real! It asked more of me than I expected, and I think I gave it more than I knew I had.

I don’t blame it.

I think it was building something.

Here’s to 31.🥂

No one does like HUSDT! Let’s celebrate and congratulate our talented team for their outstanding performance at the National HBCU Speech and Debate Championship Tournament. Each team member competed in several categories for over 10 hours during the course of the 3 day tournament. We are so proud of all of our members. Your hard work and dedication has immensely paid off! ❤️💙
