Cooking w/Brooklyn's Finest International Month!
Our kick off took us to Panama! We made a Patacon al ajillo. This is a fried then smashed and refried green plantain served with a garlicky, butter sauce. Diva got fancy and topped it with sautéed shrimp. It was a pleasure to have you Dee Dee!

Led by the Diva, Brooklyn's Finest made a cabbage lasagna...a low carb version of lasagna where the cabbage takes the place of the pasta. This was so good! Thanks to the ladies who joined today! ✌🏾n' 💙

Cooking w/Brooklyn's Finest is putting our stoves on timeout and we're getting caught up on some reading.
Join us this Sunday 8/9 @10 as we discuss Colson Whitehead's National Best Seller The Nickel Boys. The story follows two boys, the idealistic Elwood Curtis and the cynical Turner, as they navigate the brutal reality of the Nickel Academy, exploring themes of racism, injustice, and survival through their friendship and contrasting worldviews.

Join us via Zoom as we discuss the book and have a Q & A.

Day 4 of 7 of Brooklyn's Finest Bring 'Em Out challenge! Today I brought out this ecstatic Knicks fan! 💙🧡💙 We took a stroll through a historical neighborhood in Brooklyn and we got a history lesson from a "random woman" sporting her AKA tshirt and who has lived in the neighborhood since she purchased a brownstone in 1973. After chatting with her for a while she invited us sit on her stoop and she proudly gave us the history of her community. We then learned that her name is Mildred and she is the widow of Assemblyman and Council Member Al Vann. She lives on the Street that now bears his name and shared stories of their 52 years together. We feel like we were meant to be on that street at that time and we are honored to have spent time with Mildred.

GirlTREK x NAMI Walk = bringing awareness to Mental Health and trekking for an important cause. Today Brooklyn Sole Sisters, Bed Stuy Crew, Queens of Queens and Brooklyn's Finest was out in full force to celebrate 20 years of NAMI Walks. This year as a NAMI Star Walker, I raised over $1000. Happy to be a part of this movement. 💪🏾💪🏾
