I came to Mumbai to become a singer but destiny had some other plans and I became a filmmaker. Kept the singer inside me alive through all these years but the focus became filmmaking. In 2016, luckily got a chance to attend Coldplay concert in Mumbai and that day something shifted inside me when I saw 80,000 people singing ‘Fix You’ together with torch lights on.
A big dream was formed- that I would also want to do concerts like these or even bigger, in my life. Years passed by but I couldn’t get back to singing properly. Then 2 years ago I met @vijayaashanker ma’am and found my teacher in her. I found joy in singing again and started to get back to singing slowly. I had gotten the idea of ‘Yaaron- A tribute to KK’ last year but I didn’t feel ready. Last year was also a very transformative year for me as a person. I finally found a bit of my personality and started doing things which I really love. And in that process made 2 originals songs ‘Khoya Main’ and ‘Mann ke Bhanwar’ written by @kehet_asar and composed beautifully by Gauranga- Bixal @gauranga_shekhar_ph @bixal__purplehaze ❤️
These songs were lying in my laptop from more than 6 months as I kept thinking that I will make the best music video first and then release them. End of June 2026, I was about to shoot something for 7 days and it got cancelled and then I was reminded of 23rd August which is KK’s birthday. Thought to myself this is it. This time I have to do a tribute show for KK and also release these 2 originals the same day. I told this idea to Gauranga and Bixal and they were equally excited to do this and then began the journey of Yaaron from end of June. These two curated the best band I can imagine of
@anubhav.gogoi on keys
@manash_inf on bass
@bastovborbora on guitars
@supratim_bhattacharya_official on drums
@krishnarajviolin on violin
@kashikar_adwait on flute
@nehasingha.music and @_ashlesha_charu_ on backing vocals
@mriganka_boruah3 Sound engineer
These technicians were super solid in their departments and had the best time first time I was like my god, I missed singing like this ❤️

styling for mere rani

Out of everything in 2026, meeting you was definitely the highlight. A close second was creating stuff with you. Love you, and obsessed with everything you do! Thanks to the Gods for our meeting @naishabhargabi

so much went into making the contraband MV I genuinely dont even know how to put it into words

I am so lucky and grateful for everyone who was there that day from hair / make up to production houses / styling assts / the cast and crew.

every frame every look every little detail goes so deep and nothing was random, it was all pieces of where I come from what I grew up around and everything this song made me see in my head

and somehow I got to make it with my family 🤍

@isaluilui really helped me bridge India and Brasil in a way that felt so natural to me, two cultures that go so deep in celebration sport colour chaos passion and that very specific extremely chalant behaviour lol, every look had a reason and she brought every insane thing in my head to life

@bronzedgoddessxo my best friend who knows exactly what I mean when I reference the most random thing from our childhood, helping me build out the world creatively and put pieces of what we grew up around into every frame

@naimlilly my sister my twin who understands my language before I even speak it, creative producing beside me and somehow knowing what I was trying to make before I could even explain it

@rissaramirez my creative queen and a boss in her own right, somehow holding a million moving pieces together while always protecting my voice and what we were trying to say

@colinseyes + @rubyytilleyy my favourite director duo and genuinely two peas of the same pod, taking every conversation every reference and every tiny detail seriously and then being legends at actually executing it

and ruby my choreographer who helped me find movement that actually belonged inside the song and made everything come alive while being the most independent bad bitch through all of it

contraband was made by people I love and trust and I think you can feel that when you watch it and hear it
