Nanibah Chacon’s (@nanibah) sculptures in #WhitneyBiennial 2026 draw out the visual similarities between the sand paintings of Diné (Navajo) gods and electrical towers used by coal refineries on the Navajo Nation. After the Biennial closes, one of the sculptures will be installed on the land of the Navajo Nation.

Chacon spoke to us about the sculptures installed on our sixth floor terrace. Listen to the full audio stop on @bloombergconnects—link in bio.

Recently, Lucas Gonzalez @burgerbunzz and I ( @nanibah ) got to create a new commissioned sound piece for the Sheburne Museum @shelburnemuseum in Vermont .
It was a joy to create this work together a first of its kind.
.
The road trip as a whole was inspired and fun with pit stops at @bjornqorn factory @skatetimeny , and the ever magical @litebriteneon in Kingston. The Shelburne Museum also incredible with Ships ( ✏️! ) light houses and restored steam trains . Every day a treat with visits to Lake Champlain and farm fresh Vegitarian food . VT is truly a gem; experience always adds to the expression:)
.
This piece and other Incredible works will Open next Saturday June 21 as part of “Making a Noise “ . Indigenous Artists merge sound and Textile. Curated by Victoria Sunnergren @vsunnergren . I hope you can experience these works in person . It was a joy to create and work with all at the Shelburne. 🖤

Visited the Denver Art Museum @denverartmuseum and saw the Exhibition Desert Rider . I have 3 works in this exhibition and since most of my work is so large its always a treat to see it in its own space away from my studio . Curators Gilbert Vicario and Victoria Lyall created a complex space exploring the lowrider and skateboard as a “vehicle “ for self determination for Chicanx and Indigenous people . This is the last week to see this exhibition at DAM , if you can go see it while you can

Thanks to The Guild Cinema for presenting our work (and for years and years of independent cinema!), Keif and Nani... We were very pleased with how the documentary played on the big screen, and everyone else seemed to be too, also with Obstacle Illusion and some Hot Pursuit Of Happiness songs. A great way to end our couple of months in New Mexico. Now we're back on the road (in the air...). See/hear you out there!

“as we destroy these oppressive structures, what will we grow from our fires?”

Grateful to spend time reflecting on social practice, community and public art in NYC with some amazing minds, friends, and new connections for my clore fellowship 🌱 and here are some beautiful works and projects I encountered along the way 🫶🏽

On this #internationalwomensday, I wanted to give a shoutout to all of the talented women who have shared their art in public spaces through the installation of public art across Rochester. I feel very fortunate to have had the privilege of capturing some of them in action over the last few years, while sharing space and conversation. Their work is important, powerful and breathtaking. Thankful that it’s here to inspire us, and the next generation of public artists.
