Africa’s remittance story is changing. What does that mean for the businesses moving the money? At Jirani Nairobi, our second panel brought together voices from across the remittance and payments ecosystem to explore how cross-border money movement is changing. Samuel Ireri of @equitygroup and Raphael Anampiu @flexmoneytransferlimited of Flex Money Transfer explored the changing profile of remittance users, the growing value of money sent home, how the purpose of remittances is evolving, and what changing immigration policies could mean for the industry.

Wellness isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes, it’s about slowing down. A little grounding. A moment to breathe. Time to relax, reset and come back to yourself. Wellness is at the core of Jirani ,creating space to pause alongside the conversations, connections and business happening in the room. A special thank you to @anchorwellnessclub.ke for leading our wellness session

We asked the room what worries them more: market instability or the shilling losing its value and this is what they had to say.

Anyone can fill a room. The real question is who’s in it. JIRANI Nairobi brought together people who don’t normally find themselves in the same room, but have plenty of reason to be in conversation. 160 attendees. 120 organisations. 10 industries. What followed were new introductions, conversations and connections that continued beyond the event. Stay tuned for the next Jirani 🇬🇧

What you saw in the room was only part of the story. Behind it all were weeks of planning, countless moving pieces, last-minute details, the chaos in between, and a team working behind the scenes to bring the day to life. Here’s a little look at what happened before the doors opened.

A room full of founders, investors, industry leaders and businesses , all coming together to connect, discover and share what they’re building. From conversations that carried on long after the sessions ended, to new introductions, ideas exchanged and connections made across the room, these are some of the moments that captured the spirit of Jirani We’re grateful to everyone who showed up, brought their energy and made the Nairobi edition what it was.

JIRANI was built on one simple idea: what happens when you put people who don’t usually share the same room in the same room? So we went beyond the usual. Instead of bringing together people from one industry, we brought together founders, investors and industry leaders from retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, energy, technology, finance and trade each bringing different perspectives, experiences and interests into the room. The result was a space that felt intentionally curated, where a conversation over a drink could be just as valuable as one on stage. From the keynote and panel discussions to the introductions, unexpected conversations and connections that followed, JIRANI Nairobi created space for ideas to move beyond the stage and into the room. A special thank you to @honeycoinapp and @flexmoneytransferlimited for powering the connections that made this possible. We’re grateful to the people who brought their perspectives into the room :Liz Wambua of @glovo_ke , Darshan Chandaria of @chandaria.industries , Kim Jackson of @naivas_supermarket , Anthony Wainaina of Quatrix Global, Raphael Anampiu of @flexmoneytransferlimited , Samuel Ireri of @equitygroup , Gabriel Mbugua of @honeycoinapp , Alex Karanja of @hfmkenya and David Langat of DL Group. We’re equally grateful to the moderators who guided the conversations @ian_wafula of @sautisessions , @bbukusi of @financially_inc ,Dominic Mulinda and Evans Munene of @adminaccess_ for keeping the conversations moving and bringing different perspectives into the room. And to @chellecharity , who guided us through the evening and kept the room moving. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who showed up, contributed and connected. You made JIRANI Nairobi what it was. Next stop: London. 🇬🇧

They expected 30 people. 150 showed up. @naniscafeparty started after @zanelle.wanja and her partners realised there was a real appetite for social spaces built around connection, music and fun without alcohol. Their earlier Social Spritz event had only attracted 30 people, so they thought they knew what to expect. Then TikTok changed the equation. The concept spread, and their first Nani’s edition pulled five times the crowd they had planned for.
