POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Weโ€™re so excited to welcome Jonathan Mercado (@nanjonka ) back to Pangalay Circle this Sunday! You may have seen Jonathan performing with @kulartspresents or @parangaldance , or teaching the next generation through @agosprogram_kularts . He also has a project called Oakland Tayo @oaklandtayo , a work in progress exploration in co-production with herna cruz Louie to envision Filipino connection while honoring our roots in the Bay Area. Last year, he guided us through Maguindanaon Sagayan. This year, heโ€™ll lead us in exploring diasporic identity through movement, drawing from his rich background across multiple dance forms. Witnessing the way Jonathan embodies Philippine dance while honoring the many influences that shape his practice is such a gift. We hope youโ€™ll join us to learn, move, reflect, and discover new ways of connecting to your own story through dance.

Palin-awa - Healing Ritual of Kalinga - is a ritual that restores balance and calls one's spirit back to community after deep joy or sorrow. You could feel that intention in every movement tonight. Congratulations to the whole team @parangaldance , and a quiet moment of gratitude for Papa "Sapi" Bawer, whose legacy lived in every step. #parangal #sfbayarea #filipino #sentrofilipino

Our deepest and heartfelt pasalamat to everyone who supported our latest production, โ€œBurden of Proof.โ€ We are truly blessed to have had 6 consecutive sold out shows. The KULARTS family is deeply honored that you chose to uplift and stand with the stories of those who have survived and risen above forces that attempt to silence them. This story asks us to sit with discomfort, to confront hard truths, and to reflect on the realities that continue to shape our communities. We recognize the weight of that and we thank you for holding up that mirror and meeting it with openness and care. Thank you for going on this journey with the Calliano family through all the joys and hardships that life will present. It is our hope that what you experienced doesnโ€™t end when you leave the theater. That it lingers, sparks conversation, deepens understanding, and moves us all toward imagining and demanding a more just and compassionate world. To the entire cast and crew of this production, your hearts are felt. Thank you for your care, honor, and compassion in developing this project for the past 2 years. Thank you @bindlestiff_sf for continuing to stand tall and offer a home to share our stories. To Jason Magabo Perez and Nanay Lenora Magabo Perez, we embrace you and keep your story in our hearts as we continue to share this experience beyond our generation. Thank you for being an example of resilience. May the Mga Diwata continue to guide and bless our efforts as we move forward with touring this work, ensuring its impact reaches new audiences and resonates deeply with all who experience it. Mabuhay tayong lahat! Taus punong pasa-salaamat! Photo by @wilfredgalila

In witnessing your survival, may we all recognize our own power in standing strong as an individual, as family, and as a community against all and any adversity. The cast and creative team are privileged to be standing in your power and are empowered to keep on fighting, without fear. Makibaka! Huwag Matakot๐Ÿ”ฅ
