As I get ready for this week’s Social Health Summit, I have been getting such a lovely buzz from looking at the mix of people on the guest list.

There are MPs, donors, leaders and that’s awesome. But there’s also VIPs from my everyday life.

Lorina, who I met getting my eyebrows done. Daniel, who I chat to in a coworking space. The childcare worker who has seen me at my most exhausted (and occasionally pulled together), and shows up every day with real care for every family.

And then the artists, creatives, facilitators, and the people running and working in our “third spaces” (pubs, cafes, libraries, gyms) creating places where people find connection.

We talk so much about systems in mental health. But most of what keeps people going doesn’t come from a system. It comes from moments like these, people like this, the places they make.

That’s what we’re really trying to build: something that reflects the lives people are actually living, and the connections that hold them together. That’s social health, to me.

Full of love & pride for the many loving hands of family and community that make @walaconnections BoonWurrung Ngargee Dance Group possible 🙌🏽

The dedication from the dancers and all our families for the girls to be able practice their culture & creative expression through dance is unwavering, plus the support of many that contribute in so many ways 🫶🏽

This weekend alone the girls got to open @thrivewomensfestival, danced in ceremony on BoonWurrung Country & in front of a sold out stadium @melbunited Indigenous Round thanks to @rick.g.b.8 @koorie_academy 🏀 🫶🏽

Memories we will have forever and that mean so much to our families, community and the BoonWurrung whose stories we are blessed to hold and share whilst living on Kulin lands 🙏🏽 @narweet_carolyn @biikbundjil 🤎

Rafi’s at his first justice reform conference. He’s eaten most of the chocolate, wiped the rest on his shirt (and on several other people’s 🫣), and is flatly rejecting feedback and accountability. At this rate, he’ll be running the prison system by Monday!
