August started off wonderful. I got to join the @myfaceorg adult retreat for the second year. I saw some new faces & some previous connections! I felt at home and relaxed the entire time! Everyone was wonderful. I learned what it is to have a community especially a community like this one that brings me warmth and meaning into my life. 💜

celebrated 1 year of @disabledand with @betseyjohnson for a maximalist masquerade to close out disability pride month💜🎂 and not a single guest missed the assignment.

I’m biased but being in a room with designers, artists, musicians working for some of the world’s biggest brands (who also happen to be disabled) is nothing short of soul-filling. pinching myself that I get to do this, and we have so many exciting plans + announcements in the coming weeks.

HAPPY WORLD CLEFT AWARENESS DAY AND TO THE END OF CLEFT CON 2K26!!! Being with @smiletraincommunity @smiletrain all weekend and listening to all the stories of everyone was on of the most impacting things. I love each and every one of you and I'm so thankful that I met you all. Till next year!!

In This past weekend, we had the opportunity to attend our first @SmileTrain Cleft Con in Phoenix, Arizona.

For those who don’t know, Smile Train is a global nonprofit that helps provide free cleft lip and palate surgery and comprehensive cleft care. They also support patients with services like speech therapy and nutrition, while creating opportunities for families affected by clefts to connect with one another.

When we first walked in, we were taken aback by the number of people hugging, laughing, and reconnecting. We were immediately spotted as first-time attendees and welcomed with open arms.

Cleft Con instantly felt like a safe place. Everyone there understood our journey. We didn’t have to explain what a cleft is or how it has impacted our lives. Everyone just got it. It became easy to ask questions, be vulnerable, share stories, and even shed some tears together.

One of the most beautiful parts of the weekend was seeing people at every stage of their cleft journey. The oldest attendee was in her 60s, the youngest was just 9 months old, and one mom was nine months pregnant, preparing to welcome her own cleft cutie into the world. It was inspiring to witness so many different journeys and be reminded that no two cleft stories are the same.

After hearing so many stories and meeting families and advocates from across the country, we became more drive. every child deserves access to the care they need, without insurance standing in the way. These conversations only strengthened our commitment to fighting for better insurance coverage for children born with congenital anomalies. We are more determined than ever to get Ray’s Law passed.

We left with new friendships, invaluable advice, and full hearts. If you believe every child deserves access to medically necessary cleft care, please sign the petition and help us advocate for change. Together, we can make a difference.

Happy National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness month!! I am so thankful for this community and everyone within it. While my cleft has come with challenges, it has also given me resilience, purpose, and a passion for advocating so that everyone born with a cleft or craniofacial difference has access to the care they deserve. Awareness starts the conversation, but advocacy creates lasting change.
