ADK ❄️ wrapping up ‘24 ~ ringing in ‘25 🎆 For those still curious about the dog? wolf? that I saw alone on the lake (pic 5) ~ neighbors let us know her story ~ Kiska is a rescue from Canada who lives outside in all weather. Her owners did DNA testing which revealed she’s husky, malamute & TIMBERWOLF 🐺

The day we harvested Dad & Mom’s 2024 crop; ALSO the day a candid photo revealed that I am my Mom’s mini (pic 4 👯) Days like this remind me how grateful I am for our little corner of NW Loudoun Cty. We moved to this barely habitable, abandoned dairy farm in 1976. In 47 years the farm has grown (by 60 acres) and changed in ways too numerous to count. I remember a family friend asking, when I was little, “Do you realize you live in one of the most beautiful places in the world?” At the time I surely did not; I desperately wished for a modern, suburban home in a real neighborhood. It took moving away + the wisdom that comes with age to fully appreciate the experiences that only country kids understand. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for creating and caring for the magical place us Napolitanos call home 🌾🍇🍇🍇🌳 #loudouncounty #roundhill #virginiavineyards #woodgrovemeadows

Ripening wine grapes don’t respect human schedules. When the expert winemakers at Forever Farm & Vineyard determined that Sept. 9th was harvest day, there were conflicts. Mom & Dad had an out-of-town wedding on their calendar. My brother & sister-in-law shuffled their schedules and booked a Friday night flight from VT but, after several delays, their flight was canceled with no options that would get them to VA in time. But, like said, the grapes were ready so we got ready too! We fielded an energetic crew and picked & pressed 1,337 pounds of Norton grapes! A 37% yield increase from last year!
