Happiest birthday to this 17 year old! He happens to be the most amazing, talented, funny, smart, kind 17 year old and I’m so proud that he chose me to be his mom. May his 17th trip around the sun be the best one yet! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Nuclear Eye from @nucleareyezine has become one of my favourite zines covering a fantastic selection of lesser known horror with a much appreciated focus on current releases and creators. This issue 3 includes a Brewce Longo interview and an in depth review of Videogore from @valbarano and @davemirrafreestylebmx3 which collects the filmography of Jon Christian Moller. With Skum Kulture and Scuzzoid seemingly on hiatus this zine is even more vital and I hope it continues. Another very promising new zine is Blood Vivid from @zug_island_vacation with issue 2 including interesting interviews with director Susana Kapostasy and @slasherdave and a few other eclectic bits and pieces such as a live wrestling review. @nickcato68 has been around much longer and his Suburban Grindhouse is up to a very consistent issue 7 but it's issue 6 here with a James Bryan interview and an extensive review section. @narocrocyeroc has a new zine following on from Skree, Herepetic Whitlow. This looks at underground and sometimes more extreme subjects with a selection of reviews and interviews including the pictured lengthy and enjoyable interview with @valbarano and seems to have an impressively brisk release schedule. The superb Bedabbled zine from Martin Jones has a very welcome new issue with the usual well written considerations of some British films this time with a seaside theme. Also pictured is a small prose collection Yesterday's Beaches from his Exile in the Margins press which has some wonderfully evocative and nostalgic reflections. Finally here from @thenottinghamhorrorcollective are the most recent body horror themed TNHC zine and the third issue of their spin off Last Closet on the Left zine beautifully presented as always with a collection of academic leaning but accessible essays on the horror genre. #herpeticwhitlow #nucleareyezine #bloodvividzine #suburbangrindhouse #bedabbled

Gotta brag on the kiddo a lil bit. The Trustee Award is for outstanding students in the top 10% of their class. This guy is actually in the top 2.6% of his class, but hey, who’s counting… other than me… 🤣

Finally got frames on my prints from @bodiestoobarebitch and @alexdelaneyart (via @narocrocyeroc) so now they get to join the wall of cool stuff alongside @jvwesttothemax and @brauncowski

Walls are finally getting covered in art (the rest are maybe moreso than this one, now!) for the first time in my life. Never framed and hung stuff before, really. Feels weirdly grown up, but also really great to look at all my walls and see art from artists I know, artists I don't know, and memorabilia from concerts I've attended and such. Feels good!

Skree zine from @narocrocyeroc sadly ended with these issues on Noir and Extraterrestrials and an Among the Living inspired mini zine. There's the usual enjoyable selection of articles and interviews and it was great to see @idle_hands_zines contribute her excellent ufo knowledge. The Corcoran Canady conversations are always interesting and thankfully @narocrocyeroc already has a new zine project but pick up all these available Skree issues if you can. Suburban Grindhouse from @nickcato68 continues strong with issue 5 including looks at The Bride of Frank and Criminally Insane and a nice review section. Sleaze Fiend from @sleazefiendmagazine doesn't seem to have much of a presence on here but returned with their zine issue 6 after a few years' hiatus with an impressively loaded issue featuring lengthy pieces on The Last House on the Left and the recently re-released Fireworks Woman and it also included that film on disc as an extra. @misfitcinemajournal changes name to Workprint for issue 4 and I'm glad to say the content stays similar with coverage of local screenings and some creative film related reminiscences. I'm always jealous of the local screenings he has available! Phantasmag from @phantasmagpress hits issue 3 and again is beautifully designed and presented and covers some lesser celebrated areas of horror including here the cinematographer of Nosferatu Jarin Blaschke and Pierre-Olivier Persin who created many of the special effects in The Substance and also some creative performance art. Finally I also caught up on issues 4-6 of It Came From Hollywood from @rob_freese with highlights including a Brett Kelly interview and in depth overview of the career of Arch Hall Jr. This is a labour of love full of insight and enthusiasm and well worth collecting. #itcamefromhollywood #phantasmag #workprint #misfitcinemajournal #sleazefiend #skreezine #extraterrestrials #suburbangrindhouse #zines #horror #archhalljr #outsiders
