Visiting the murals of Konohana, Osaka, Japan, inspired me with a big idea. I had the opportunity to meet @taaaaaa36 , founder of @wallshare , who shared his ideas and strategies for developing a mural town through art and public spaces. @muraltownkonohana is home to international artists, each with their own unique style, brushstrokes, and stories to tell. It reminded me that murals are more than just art for the community. They are also a form of personal expression, allowing artists to tell their stories in their own way while respecting the local culture and community. Seeing how art can transform a town into an open-air gallery made me think… Why not bring this idea to Kluang? I hope to create more opportunities for local artists to express themselves, bring our community together, and make Kluang a destination for art and creativity. Mural Town Kluang… coming soon! #MuralTownKluang #Kluang #Konohana #Osaka #PublicArt

The first phase of our Berlin field research is officially done: weeks of interviews with Berlin-based artists, long conversations over beers, studio visits, walls photographed, and a question that kept resurfacing no matter who I was talking to. I’ve spent the past few days connecting those different perspectives, and they’ve become the starting point for my September 1 newsletter, where I’ll try to untangle what everyone means when they talk about the Berlin that has changed, disappeared or somehow keeps going. DM me if you want to join this very exclusive newsletter club. 😉 Now phase two begins. Today we welcome a small group of blog readers to Berlin, coming from other parts of Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. Some have already joined us on previous research trips; others we’ll meet for the first time. These trips are an important part of the crowdfunding that allows us to keep this publishing project independent, but they’ve also become part of the research itself. Walking the city together, telling the stories I’ve been collecting and hearing what other people notice always opens new conversations, and I already know some of them will eventually find their way into my writing. So I’m logging off for a few days. What happens on our street art trips stays on our street art trips. 😎
