treatment & care of axial SpA so everyone can live well.
Axial SpA works silently. We don’t.

12 months ago, I couldn't sit, stand or drive. Tonight I ran 5K without stopping. 🏃‍♂️
Ankylosing Spondylitis, an autoimmune disease where my own immune system attacks my spine and hip joints.
At its worst, the right side of my body jammed completely.
Some mornings I still can't get out of bed without stretching first.
I take an immunosuppressant injection just to keep it under control. It's expensive and it leaves me more prone to illness.
Last Wednesday a flare put me in bed again.
And through all of it: a full-time 9-to-5.
Tonight:
📍 5.42 km, non-stop
⏱️ 36:23
⚡ 6:42 /km
Last week I had to stop and walk. Tonight I didn't.
It's not about being fast. It's about not quitting on a body that keeps trying to quit on me.
Next stop: Marathon 2027. Then an Ironman, as the first Pakistani with an autoimmune condition to do it. 🇵🇰
If you're fighting something no one can see, keep going. Slowly is still going. 🧡
Gracias por ver el video 🙏

3 DAYS TO GO until Strength-tober! 💪

7.6 years. That’s the average time it takes to get diagnosed with axial SpA.

That can mean years of living with pain, stiffness and fatigue without really understanding what’s going on. And that can affect so much more than symptoms. It can knock your confidence in your body too.

That’s why Strength-tober is about more than just getting physically stronger.

From 5th October, we’re bringing people with axial SpA together to build strength and confidence, while raising awareness and vital funds for the work NASS do.
Because strength can be about muscle, but it can also be about confidence, resilience and having a community around you.

We start in 3 days! Comment STRENGTH and I’ll send you the link to join us for free. 💪

Pain Awareness Month ends today, but for so many of us, pain is part of every month ❤️‍🩹

I’m a psychologist and chronic illness coach, and I live with AS, arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Waking up in pain every day has challenged my natural positivity more than I expected, and I know from my work that I’m far from alone in that.

The exhaustion, the sense of unfairness and the worry about the future are all understandable responses to living with a long-term condition, and they deserve support just as much as the physical symptoms.

I could’ve spoken about way more in this post but these are main ones for me! What else would you add to this??👇 Let me know in the comments 🫶

One week to go until Strength-tober! 💪

There are loads of reasons why exercising with axial SpA can be difficult, but one we don’t talk about enough is how lonely it can feel.
You get diagnosed. You’re told exercise is important. And sometimes you’re basically given a piece of paper with some exercises on it and sent away to do them on your own.

But exercise doesn’t have to look like that.
Strength-tober is a chance to get stronger alongside other people with axial SpA who actually understand what you’re going through, with support and ways to adapt things to work for you.

We start on 5th October, with free online strength and yoga classes, at-home sessions and a community doing it together, while raising vital funds for NASS.
Just one week to go ❤️
