Fueled by mojitos and a little bit of Cuba in every corner 🇨🇺

Celia said, “Ríe y llora”, and that we did! From booking an Etsy witch for good weather to shaking our maracas, it was definitely an unforgettable Havana Night. Happy birthday, @mmorales930 !

I indeed did have a steak sandwich on Bolo de Caco every day. I also spoke and understood more Spanish then I ever have before.

Last night after dinner in the city, @natali_ & I were walking in the village and saw the @the.music.inn across the street, and stopped in to check out the instruments, just to find out that they had an open mic going on downstairs. Luckily they had 1 spot left and had a house guitar that I could use.
This song is called “Spoonful”, written by Willie Dixon, and this rendition by my late neighbor, John Paul Hammond. When I moved to Jersey City 10 months ago, I fortunately moved in next door to John & his lovely wife, Marla. (We even share a balcony) Over the last 10 months, John & I developed a very close relationship. He would share music recommendations with me and he really inspired me to take a deep dive into the “Delta Blues”. He would give me albums to listen to, gave me a harmonica to start practicing on, and would so humbly talk about his career in the industry. I even got to scan the pictures for his book that he was so excited to have be released in March of 2027.
Last month, John passed away at 83, and both Nati and I were there with his wife Marla when he was pronounced.
This past Wednesday night, I was making burgers for Nati & Marla, and Marla gifted me this silk shirt of John’s and told me it was one of his favorites to wear on stage.
Thank you John for being an inspiration to so many people in this world, and thank you so much for being one of the most genuine souls I have encountered. I hope this performance makes you proud, and Nati & I both promise to always be there for Marla❤️‍🔥
