Nature sets the pace here at a tropical sustainable escape… Each moment is a gentle reminder that true luxury lives in harmony with the world around us - where wildlife thrives, nature is protected, and every pause invites you to slow down.

In this Arabian Ranches villa, the children weren’t handed finished bedrooms — they were invited to author their own design briefs. The result: distinct, personalised spaces that still speak the same considered language as the rest of the home.

One daughter’s bedroom took shape around a sculptural relief wall panel, marble-topped cylindrical bedside tables, and a cluster of hand-blown glass pendants — soft, tactile, and entirely her own.

A second child’s room asked for something different altogether: classical wall panelling, a dark walnut bedside table, and a pleated wall sconce above — a quietly grown-up register with a character all its own.

This is what a considered brief looks like when it makes room for individuality — proof that a cohesive interior doesn’t mean every room has to look the same.

A short walk from Sama, the hilltop temple in Kosgoda offers a quieter kind of experience. You will be welcomed by resident monks, guided through the space, and introduced to the stories behind each statue.

A meaningful way to connect with the culture of the coastal village 🌿

One of our ‘top finds’ for last year was Sama Retreats 👌🏼
.
Tucked away on a quiet stretch of Sri Lanka’s south coast, Sama Retreats is all about stepping out of the noise and into something slower.🏝️
.
Set in Kosgoda, this beachfront boutique wellness retreat keeps things intentionally low-key — a handful of rooms, open space, and the kind of seclusion that’s getting harder to find. Days here lean into routine: ocean swims, yoga, Ayurvedic treatments, and long, uninterrupted stretches of time.
.
The design is a standout — a refined boutique aesthetic that stays true to Sri Lanka, with natural materials, clean lines, and a calm, grounded feel throughout 💜
.
We discovered Sama Retreats while wandering the secluded beach at our preferred turtle conservation, Galbokka Sea Turtles a small, locally run initiative is a genuine conservation project — focused on protecting nests, rehabilitating injured turtles, and safe releases, not a large-scale commercial operation. 🐢
