I don’t really know how to write this, and I don’t think there are words that could ever do him justice.

We lost our sweet Bailey.

A week ago, he got sick, and we held on to every bit of hope that he’d get better. We weren’t ready to lose him. We weren’t ready for a house that feels a little quieter, for the little things we’ll catch ourselves looking for, or for the realization that a part of our family is missing.

It’s funny how something so small can take up so much room in your heart.

Bailey never had to do anything extraordinary to make our lives better. He just had to be there. His little face, his personality, his unconditional love, and all the silly little things that made him him. Things that seemed so ordinary at the time but that I would give anything to experience just one more time.

I keep thinking about whether he knew how much we loved him. Whether he knew how happy he made us, how much comfort he brought us, and how much better our lives were simply because he was part of them.

I hope he did.

I hope he knew that he was never just a dog to us. He was our family, our little buddy, and a piece of our hearts that we’ll carry with us for the rest of our lives.

I wish we’d had more time, Bailey. I wish we could have given you one more good day, one more cuddle, one more chance to tell you what a good boy you were.

But more than anything, I’m just grateful we got to love you.

You were such a good boy, buddy. I hope you know that.

We love you so much, Bailey. We always will. ❤️

Dave Shows 21 and 16! We got to see some college friends before the show and lucked out with an awesome setlist at Birminghams new amphitheater. Now back to the kids and their very appreciated sitters-Nan and Auntie Al!
